We weren’t really able to make any significant changes to the spaces beyond the glass box, we have added some simple light boxes to cover one face of the concrete columns
within the building to add some additional light to the space when it’s dark outside, blinds can be used to mask sunlight from the roof and any very bright external windows.
The cameras and lighting were adjusted to ensure that the architecture of the building looked as white as possible whilst retaining warmth in the skin tones.
'White as possible"....still looks beige to me. Oh well....
End result is just boring and bland, it makes the BBC look so much better, proper studios and presentation.
"The “inspiration” for the glass box design came from the Sky News brand."
Really? It has nothing in common with the Sky news brand.
"We didn’t really want the set to feel like a set at all,"
"this was an opportunity for the news channel to become a key part of Sky’s newest building “Sky Central.”
Essentially from what I said all along, it was designed as something to look at and point to to visitors to the building rather than something that actually works well for the purpose it was built.
I dread the new year when they move to the box full time.
There is no way on this earth they are going to keep that box, they will do something, they will add shades of red or blue, before they ditch it for some obscure hour report show daily.
All of Sky’s news daytime output will come from the glass box
I'm not sure what the definition of 'main studio' is, but that sounds pretty 'main' to me!
I assumed the plan is to stay in the 'glass box' and then have another studio for night time and short bulletins once they fully vacate the Sky News building?

Some blue and red light panels have appeared outside the box either side of the screen
Not sure what I think about this to be fair, although it's nice to have a splash of colour, it just looks a bit tacky. Maybe if they could tone down the colour a little.
I think if anything, they should put a bit of a set wall up between the screen and the two pillars at the side, actually inside the studio and leave the rest as it is. This would hide the dull bits outside of the studio, and remain open from the outside in for the exterior shot.
Interesting! I've lost count of the number of times in the last few months that we've all said it was too bland and needed some colour elements, only to be attacked by Sky insiders and branded 'old-fashioned'. Quelle surprise. The gradual move towards making it an attractive set begins!!
