Well I have to say that doesn't make me exactly enthusiastic unless it's so fancy it's not like others.

Can't help thinking a purpose built versatile studio to replace the current versatile purpose built studio would have been a far better option then replacing a proper studio with a glass box vanity project and a virtual studio.

Hopefully I'm proven wrong though.

It sounds like its going to be a bit rubbish, but who knows. ITV News is OK. But it seems like madness to me. The BBC made the same mistake, didn't they? well not a green screen, but a fake background. And then decided to go back to the real thing. Then again, Breakfast gets away with it.

Also this would not be possible in the glass box

Or this:

That's why I like the old studio, it can be adapted to so many different things in a way the box can't.

Good use of soft area now on Sky News for Chennai Six Homecoming, honestly sensitive subjects such as this are much better from a sofa area than something clinical.

Kudos for the producer of Kay's show for recognizing that such set-up is better and sensitive than the desk for such parts of her show.

The more I hear about the new studio the more I will miss the existing one. I didn't really totally appreciate how versatile it was until the last few weeks. Seeing that Chennai Six interview today there is no way it could have had the same feel if there was a massive desk between the presenter and the guest.

In addition, Gillian's segment at the old Sunrise desk with 4 guests wouldn't have been really possible at the Glass Box either, it would have looked very crowded and obviously the segment with the band from Sunrise would have looked even more overcrowded and there'd be problems with sound in the glass box.

The thing is, you'd hope that the producers of such shows have had a word in the ear of the people designing the new studio. That I'm really hopeful of since it should result in the new studio taking this on-board and not being as bad as I fear. The fact the producers are actively using the full studio rather than just the desk suggests they see the value in the flexibility it offers over the glass box.

my thoughts exactly. Bored with one person's constant negativity. Wasn't there someone else with a similar outlook moaning about Sky News not being like it used to be. They quietly disappeared before this latest person surfaced.

How long have the sofas been red in the shoebox? Didn’t they used to be blue? Looks quite funky, and I always liked the desk design in that area.

Since late 2012 - the red sticks out a bit more now though because the lighting behind it is now more of a purpley/white colour whereas before it was a deeper blue.

Just spotted the new Sky news logo on the background of Ian King live. Seems to be the same as before just lowercase

The new Sky News logo has just appeared on the background screen of Ian King Live with a new graphic on the screens.

Not sure it was intentional since the old graphics were used for the first 20 minutes and the end of the show the big screen was using the old graphics as was the closing card.

The background image is much better, I far prefer the skyline view to the solid blue.

Looks nice, let’s hope all shows return to a sandard opener then, as shows like AllOut Polictics look a bit of a mess.
