The camera setup on the press preview tonight is bad, it looks like the camera for the shot of the guests and the screen is almost on the floor!!!!
It got higher later on, but looked a little too low throughout

There was me hoping it'd be a proper news studio and not another vanity project, guess we will have to make the most of the last month or so in the current place.
So the new studio won't have the newsroom in background? That's a shame.

So is this the first time they've used the old studios since the election?
Not quite sure why a studio only in use for a year now needs so much work it's out of action for weeks - I'd have thought most of the work to improve the backdrop would actually take place outside the glass box (they've already added a few bursts of colour), so I'm guessing there is bit of technical work going on too.
As for the old studio - if they're trying to replicate shots from the glass box in front of the newswall then they'd have been better off taking the desk across as well. That said this just proves how oversized that laptop screen is - still don't understand why they replaced the old newswall with it.

Or wait and see what it actually looks like.

A lot of technical work. Our current gallery (and the entire building) is shutting down, so we have some technical preparations to make before moving to the new building where we will be automated.

It's used overnights all of the time for many months now.
It's also been used the odd time during the day and for a couple of Sunrises, but never for the Press Preview or News at Ten and they didn't use the screen since the election.
I like what they did with the old studio for the election, but ultimately the result of that was a studio that was far less flexible with more restrictions than before since I assume there was originally no plans to use it for anything other than fixed desk based non screen presentation afterwards.

Will be very sad to see it go, that studio has done SKy really well for a long time, sure it's evolved a little over time and will always feel "Sky News" to me compared to the glass box which just feels like a corporate office, but it's better with the blue and red lighting than without.

Don't get me wrong - I'm going to miss a lot about working in this building. Many memories! But at the same time, exciting things ahead.
