What role does Jonathan Samuels now play on Sunrise, he has barely appeared since the graphics refresh?

Jonathan Samuels appears to now be the news presenter, likened to when Charlotte and Eamonn presented. However, although he no longer presents from next to SJM, I think he covers the same amount he did when it was 'double headed'. SJM discusses the top stories and leads the discussions and JS has the other news.

Jonathan Samuels is absolutely wasted in that role. He is a great presenter and fantastic at anchoring on location. He really should have his own slot.

Rather frustrating when the duo are starting to gel well together and they then relegate Jonathan to a part-time role on the programme.

However, I can understand why they've returned to the Eamonn format if the double-headed wasn't working for them.

I quite like the new positioning if the desk with the background of the screen with the new graphics but I do think for some reason (probably with what we see from other morning shows) it lacks something by only having one main presenter and splitting SJM and JS up. Particuarly so because, as London Lite said, I thought they work pretty well together. Obviously though I'm sure Sky have their reasons!

If they're in the old studio at weekends for the rest of the month, it shouldn't affect Stephen and Isabel on Sat/Sun at least.

Sunrise is the weak link in the schedule right now though. It's gone from being agenda-setting and mentioned in the same breath as Breakfast and GMB, to being practically non-existent.

Stephen and Isabel broken up!? I think not! I've only started watching Sunrise a bit in the last year or so since Eammon left so I'm used to the 2 headed presentation and I just feel like 1 anchor is so impersonal. As said above both Jonathan and Isabel are totally wasted as newsreaders who are on air 10 minutes an hour. I hope they revert back to he pair doing the whole show.

I think that they are in the old studio till the end of august due to works in sky central. Hopefully sky will have enough time to figure out that the single headed this way doesnt really work. They could at least bring back the newsreader for the papers

The wheel doesn't help either. I know Sunrise is a dip in show, yet who really wants to see Liz Kershaw or Kevin Adams review the papers at x45 past each hour? They get it right during the evening editions (although the pairing of Sonia Sodha and the odious Isabel Oakeshott is car crash tv), yet the morning reviews are overkill. Even Breakfast only does paper reviews at weekends.

I think it would be fair to say at the moment, that Sky News is the weakest its been for a long time, maybe ever. Visually bland, editorially behind the curve rather than setting the agenda. It was once impossible to ignore Sky News, as it set the agenda and did it with flair and style. Nowadays, it feels like a shadow of its former self.

There are still moments of good reporting, but it feels like it's just treading water at the moment.

As the most-frequent guest producer on the Press Preview, I feel I should say that - as far as I'm aware - none of you know these people on whom you are making these ad-hominem attacks. You are, of course, entitled to your opinions, but I can't help but feel that such rhetoric about presenters and reporters wouldn't be tolerated, so quite aside from the fact that the discussion has veered off being at all pres-related, I would suggest that it should be curtailed.
