I think the backdrop needs something . The Sky News logo also appears nowhere in the whole backdrop. BBC News manages to achieve a good balance with BH. The logo isn't plastered across the walls, but it appears on computer monitors which makes it recognisable.

The central view over the atrium is great, but the left and right views are just nondescript - it could be any old staircase.

I personally think the actual studio is pretty good, except for the constant use of the giant screen. Some smaller monitors might be better for interviews.

I think we may also be jumping the gun a little here; as we have no idea how the main news studio in Sky Central will look when it comes online next year, together with any re-design of the Millbank studio.

The view from the Glass Box may make more sense when we see the whole new look.

This reminds me of when BBC News/NC first introduced this background in N6 (I know this pic isn't the first time we saw it, but you know what I mean):

To me it looked a little odd; but of course it was actually an impression of the real view from the future Studio E at NBH.

This may very well be a dumb question, but...is that even a newsroom behind them, or is it just office space for something else? It doesn't look too much like an active TV newsroom, but maybe that's only because they still haven't fully moved in.

It's not bad, but it certainly could use a little more visual punch like a control room-looking video array in the backdrop, even if it's ornamental like the one on CBS This Morning's set, or perhaps some light fixtures on all those pillars. I know France 24's newsroom is a very different space, but the way they used lighting and depth of field to dress up an otherwise pretty frumpy office space looked spectacular. I feel like a similar lighting design throughout that atrium would at least make it look less like a beautiful yet bland, not-meant-for-broadcast space.

It's Sky's new HQ. AIUI it's one of the two buildings they're consolidating their campus into

Some of the office space in there will presumably be a newsroom at some point, if not already.

Right. So I guess my question is, is the space that we see used for Sky News, or is it used for other Sky departments? From the looks of it, the main shot out of the cube almost looks more like a big reception space rather than a working newsroom. The space to the left (which I think is the main backdrop on Kay Burley's show) looks more like a newsroom, but it doesn't look completely level with the cube and is tucked away in that corner, so it's not like there's a really good newsroom view with lots of bright monitors and shouting, excuse me, hard-working producers milling about.

I think the glass cube comes from the main building (Sky Central) on Sky's campus which houses many different offices. I believe once the news department moves out of their old building it will be located in an adjacent building hosting Sky Sports and a forthcoming studio.

They not even change the colours of the glowing part of the desk and the part under the big screen e.g. red for Sunrise blue for 11-3pm and white for 3-6.30pm. We´ve seen those colours during the rehearsals. Not even this. Nothing. At least I expected a new identity for Sunrise, a background with purple clouds as in the new promo with Sarah-Jane. Or the more orange one we saw in the last picture of the last Sunrise rehearsal. A new theme was also announced. Nothing happened. I am not quite sure if something of those changes is (still) planned at all. They seem to persistently show the Skynews logo now also on Sunrise. Because it is only red and white?

It might all be a bit more effective had everything been relaunched on the same day, though with the current graphics barely being 18 months old I can't see a major change being on the horizon for them. It'll be interesting to see what form the second studio takes and whether the glass box is phased out slowly but surely once they move in there if opinion remains as negative towards it.

I do think the biggest problem with the set is there is a complete disconnect to the news. Sky News has I think always been set in the newsroom, so had some newsroom elements visible.

Exactly. I thought of waiting until 2017 and change everything at once. Graphicswise the lower thirds are fine IMO. And I am not talking about a new logo but for something that significant as a studio change which they said is only the third time in their history, I would have at least expected a new ToTH and music. I cannot remind me of any channel moving to new HQ´s without changing anything of their presentation. And remember they often refreshed ToTH and backgrounds. They had 3 different ones in the years 2011-13. So why are 18 month later not enough time to change something?

Is Sky news tonight moving to Millbank? if not was it ever planned to do so? I confused over this point, hence why Iam asking again.

Sky News Tonight has always come from Millbank and I don't think there's any intentions to change this.
