Personally Sky Sports needed a much needed revamp of it's noughties style graphics and colour schemes. The brand also came over uber blokey before the relaunch, this despite showing women's sport and having a weekly women's sports bulletin on Sky Sports News.

As mentioned, it's cleaner, which if you like bold and brash graphics which Sky News also had, it won't be for you, however personally I also prefer the new scheme.

There's a fair bit of the Sky Sports rebrand I like, but the rigid "Only two colours and no exceptions" simply doesn't work for some graphics, a lot of the Sky Sports News graphics badly need a hint of red inserting back into them.

Hopefully Sky News will update the TOTH since the current one shows an old version of the Sky News Website which hasn't existed for nearly a year.

Not a tenant for Flat Design, but a choice made by the creatives. If there is enough criticism, they may tweak them. There is often a bed in period with new graphics, to accommodate issues raised.

I think the flat design can work well, it's not so much that which is an issue to me, it's just the general fact that at the same time they've simplified the design from 3d to flat, they've simplified the graphics to a point where key information is not given any more prominence than supplemental which makes it harder to read.

They've tried to offset that by using larger fonts for the headings, but still it doesn't work as well as using different colours or backgrounds colors like they used to, they could have flattened things without simplifying to the point where everything looks incredibly bland and harder to find the key information first.

I will try and upload a screenshot to show what I mean.

World-class pedantry based on zero concrete information whatsoever. It's entertaining to watch folks getting this wound-up, though, I will say that!

And yet normal viewers really don't give a hoot. But then again, they don't post on a pres forum!

To quote Gorilla Monsoon, "Will you stop?!?"

The idea that anything is "normal" is a false construct. My 90 year old father is no fan of TV presentation, but he often complains that graphics are unreadable or that the sound is badly mixed on some drama he's watching and he can't hear what the actors are saying. Just because somebody posts it on a TV presentation forum, doesn't suddenly make it less valid or less of an ACTUAL issue to people's enjoyment.

I don't think SkyUser23 likes only 2 colours.

I don't like those tv screens that are always in shot either side of the big screen during the press preview. what is the point of them?

I hope the teased changes include the current use of the screen in the glass box as a background (most commonly overnight and late night). It looks like a regional CSO news studio from the 90s.

I can't stand that tight shot overnight, surely they can utilise the screen a lot better than that at that time?
