Calm down dude - I think it's fair to debate the basis of figures in this context. You have the privilege of a great deal of context and experience which others do not.
Putting the best spin on data Sky News themselves only come up with 102 million people - about 1.4% of the worlds population.
The metric you're citing is homes; the metric I'm citing is people. Usually, more than one person over the age of 16 lives in a household, ergo my assertion is not that far out.
You would think Sky would use the assertion as a basis to sell advertising space to twice as many people, but they don't... wonder why?
Because that would be an estimate, and because the number of households reached is a standard measurement.
Yeah, I mean there are other people on here who have worked in TV too, and at least in my experience, I have never seen any network try to use "people" measurements over the more standard "households." Maybe it's different on your side of the pond. But you can massage data in any way you want (TV ratings, web hits, etc.) to make any sort of marketing statement you want. A newscast I produced got a 48 share in a diary market in a sweeps month according to Nielsen. I highly doubt *that* many people were really watching our newscast, so I'm not going to let it get to my head that somehow my show was THAT MUCH BETTER with SO MUCH MORE REACH than any of my competitors.
So, we're now rapidly approaching mid-July and I have yet to see any updates on the new Sky News newsroom and overnight studio. Any updates from insiders? I understand the Brexit/Election shambles pushed things back a little, but I'm surprised we haven't heard any news recently.
