First election night ever Sky have been ahead of the BBC with results, so a big win. Graphics easily the best. I don't understand why others don't do the ticker tape.

But didn't like the rest of it

First, the quality of Sky guests and analysis of the results was second rate for the first few hours. After the exit poll BBC had McDonnell and Fallon; ITV we know had Osborne/Balls. Sky had Ken Loach and Craig Oliver... and they just didn't seem to have that many guests booked (vs itv or BBC)

Boulton alone at a massive desk with Lewis and Ed confusingly seated behind him didn't work

And seriously they need to get over this obsession about showing every live count they can. Endless coverage of counts is really not illuminating. I get that it's a technical achievement, but it's stood in the way of analysis on a night when analysis was needed.

I would much rather have had Boulton, Ridge, Faisal Islam and Lewis Goodall, Michael Thrasher with some political commentators around the table and Ed at the wall.

It was fast and Lewis Goodall was good... but there was too much counting and not enough analysis. Poor, all in all.

I cannot remember any election where SkyNews remained so long in "Election Mode". They are still playing the Decision Time music even for coming up sequences which are not related to the election. It is just so great!

it's slowly being wound down last few hours though I've noticed with standard Sky News Elements appearing. Less Vote 2017 branding by the hour now, election graphics also being wound down.

It'll probably be back to normal around midnight.

Edit: Now using normal Vote 2017 straps like in the days before the election.

Back in 2010 I remember normal service resumed at five the day after the election.

HANDY HINT: If you want a truly immersive look at how Sky covered the night, you can download the Sky VR app and watch a four-minute short film using your smartphone as a 360-degree device that will make it feel as if you're actually there - at Osterley, Westminster, and the count in Sunderland!

The RTS also have this posted - following Sky's election campaign. https://rts.org.uk/skyelection

This is particularly worth a look, I think. https://rts.org.uk/article/ElectionNightLive

Interesting article RE: Conservative party and Sky falling out with each other according to that, according to some of the guys on twitter Sky is biased because it is owned by Murdoch.

Kinda throws that out of the window.

Kinda throws that out of the window.

That and the fact I can tell you I wouldn't have worked there for four years if there were an institutional political bias of any sort (left or right) - even if it comported with my own views.

Out of interest, can't see the "Coalition Builder" amongst the print-outs. You may not be able to answer this but was this literally brought out of mothballs on the night based on the exit poll result?
