Sky News presentation - new newswall

Another thing that I have noticed today, the weather that is shown before TOTHs on Sky News Live (Youtube) is now displayed like as if its a close camera shot of the video wall.

Probably worth remembering that the graphics package you'll see from 9pm on Thursday won't be the relaunched graphics set (that's if there is going to be a refresh at all)...

The channel will be in election mode until at least 5pm on Friday (as per 2010), so if there is a full refresh - which is looking likely - then you won't see it properly for another day or so.

They will have to have some standard graphics for Friday to cover other breaking news etc, so I imagine the Election graphics will have been designed to sit alongside the new graphics set.

They didn't last time around. The clock was even kept at the top of the screen for the entire duration.

EDIT: I can't see a normal graphics set sitting alongside the vidiprinter.

Putting the vidiprinter with the current ticker fits fine. Alternative name straps etc would be used for the election of course.

Of course it can! As we saw on the removed twitter picture the ticker is indented into the election graphics this time, just with the new font. This is the big difference to last time. Therefore I would say we see the refresh immediately at 9pm and not as last time on Live at Five on Friday 7th May 2010.

The vidiprinter would be out of use by Friday Afternoon for sure. The results graphic will probably remain on the right of the screen, so plenty of space for either the new strap graphics, or using the generic (non-party coloured) straps from the election graphics kit.

So, not the full new set then. Which is exactly what I was saying.

Looks like a minor tweak only, proportions remain the same probably.

Slight problems with the graphics at 2.00 today. The top of the hour animation was a generic Sky News logo, and the poll of polls animation appeared to be juddery and kept freezing.

The TOTH is the generic Sky News one whenever they're broadcasting from Westminster IIRC.

The poll of polls animation was also juddery this morning too, even when it was being filmed on the big screen.
