On paper, the Sky Cafe set-up shouldn't work, but it does have more of a 'breakfast tv' feel than the desk or shoebox areas.

Sorry, I keep glancing at the TV in the office - where is Dermot? Still in the cafe?

I think he might actually be sitting in reception at the moment oddly enough.

He was/is. Pres fans should spin the YouTube live feed back by half-an-hour or so to see Kay Burley giving a live walking tour of Sky Studios and the set for tonight.

Compared to 2010 it all feels much more low key today. Obviously this is due to news events. I remember in 2010 the Skycopter live from Bristol with big Election debate stings and much more build up. Another reason for it being low key this time could be the brevity of the organising. They were only agreed last week which is presumably the reason they are coming from Sky Studios instead of an OB which would be more of a logistical challenge.

Are we expecting Sky News to introduce a rebrand, and to go into Election mode, starting tonight at 9pm with the first of the election debates/programmes?

Yes - they'll also be demolishing the studios, hosting a plate spinning championships, and changing all the light bulbs.

Didn't they introduce the new logo and graphics for the debate the last time before reverting to the old logo and graphics until election night?

They just changed the logo at the top left corner of the picture for that debate. Ticker and straps remained the old ones.

All the election graphics have been using the Sky Font, so its not impossible to imagine they may adopt that font with any change. Also they introduced their new logo last time on the night of the Sky News debate.

And the promotions for this debate tonight have used the single colour version of the logo, which has been featuring more and more on Sky News graphics and promotions.
