The new Sky News screen and podium is like a supersized version of the same set-up already in use by Al Jazeera in Doha for the weekly Business Peogramme, Counting the Cost.

I think the Doha version, being smaller, is less intimidating than the Sky version. Given the scale in some of the images posted above, the presenter standing at the podium is lost in the vastness of the picture.

However, looks quite good.

They are currently showing a statement from Geneva and you can't hear a word the woman is saying so I turned the tv up loud to try and hear when Lukwesa shouts out in an aggressive tone Hold on I'm trying to listen and now Tim Marshall seems to be on a breaking up feed

Edit: its not sky's fault for the sound problems the mic used didn't work

Now they crashed out of a press conference with the Iranian foreign minster into president Obama's statement missing the start and the local time clock seems to be wrong showing as 20:35, I'm sure it should say 22:35 as its 03:35 here

This must have been live on SUNRISE last week:

Since late 2008 I haven't seen a comparable studio act.

That looks ridiculous, stupid and pointless. I'd be most interested to see how much did that waste of money cost. The same effect could have been had with a 42" LCD TV. Also I have seen plenty of better studio 'acts', whatever is meant by that if you mean use of a studio - any time in any studio which involved a camera moving. If you mean impressiveness - The Newsroom pan on BBC News. How the Studio looks - When all the BARCOs in N6 broke down.

It probably didn't cost them anything... all they needed to do was plug an Xbox into the screen and hey presto. Why do it on a 42" TV when you have that big screen available?

And I think your comparing it to the BBC News newsroom pans is ridiculous, they aren't even trying to achieve the same thing. And I have no idea why you seem to think the BARCOs in N6 breaking down was a good thing?

A - The cost I was talking about was the massive waste of money which was the massive Screen.
B - My point was that the screen adds nothing so you might as well do it on a standard TV.
C - I was pointing out that moving a camera around a bit is a terrible 'studio act' compared to anything else.
D - You quite clearly quite grasped the concept of Sarcasm. I was saying that the Sky News studio with that massive glowing rectangle looks about as good as N6 when all the screens went to the Blue Screen of Death.

How long has Sport been sponsored by NOW TV? They really haven't thought that promo through have they, having to remove the ticker manually for it each time?
