There does seem to be an increase in these shocking pictures at the moment - Tonight they showed a man being told his daughter had died during the Sherine Tadros report from Gaza . I didn't like how they zoomed right in on his face and just held that shot for a good 15 seconds.
That is far worse than what Colin did. That incident really wasn't as bad as reports lead to believe and he realised within seconds he shouldn't be doing it. Sadly though for idiots online that's not good enough and he must now be sentenced to double shifts with Kay Burley for the rest of his natural life.
It's pretty pathetic really that people will go to the effort of complaining to OFCOM about things like this but won't life a finger to protest against the incident that caused the worlds attention to be on those fields in the first place.
Anyone that has watched Colin Brazier over the years knows the calibre of broadcaster he is. He made an error of judgement, and a big one at that. However the quality of his character is displayed in the apology he wrote which was published this morning. I may be ridiculed for this but I believe it was a very brave thing to do, having the dignity to acknowledge the huge error of judgement he made. http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/jul/22/mh17-sky-news-reporter-colin-brazier-crash-victims-luggage
It still seems a touch cynical, where he essentially admits he was using the debris as an emotional prop. As if the story didn't already have enough emotion? It's just ever so slightly Damien Day.
I think the whole incident does raise the feeling a lot of people have about reporters - that they've covered so many horrible scenes that to them it becomes another day in the office and they lose any real empathy for the situation.

One doesn't preclude the other - there are easily more people protesting against the incident than people who complained to Ofcom, so there's a good chance that the two groups intersect.
I hear that Jack Morton (the people behind the GMB set) will be trialling a new newswall at Celtic Park in Glasgow tonight.

The TOTH just failed then, the background flickered a few times before going black, you could still see the iPhone and other bits but the background was totally black. I've never seen it do that before
EDIT
Another failure of the 6pm opening. most of it was spent with a static image of some plane wreckage
Pressed for an apology, an emotional Brazier today released a statement offering a full explanation for his bizarre actions, claiming that fellow Sky News reporter Kay Burley had given him a list of things she wanted him to pick up.
“Kay Burley had asked me to see if I could find her a bottle or two of Chanel No. 5, as well as a Nintendo 3DS and a charger for an iPhone if at all possible”.
hopefully its someone's idea of a joke though, I don't think even she would do that
Richard I presume this is an attempt at humor? If so I regret to report that it failed. "Waterford Whispers" is, much like "The Onion" a spoof website, if you weren't aware of that I'll be amazed.
