I saw that live and I didn't have a problem with them showing the belongings spread over the floor but when he started lifting things out of the case I was shocked and felt quite uncomfortable. Thank god Kay didn't do it or it would have been a much bigger issue.

In fairness to Colin he did only do it for 7 seconds and he is great on location

There does seem to be an increase in these shocking pictures at the moment - Tonight they showed a man being told his daughter had died during the Sherine Tadros report from Gaza . I didn't like how they zoomed right in on his face and just held that shot for a good 15 seconds.

Further evidence of the shocking decline in standards at Sky News.

What other evidence of this is there?

Oh, please . I'm not going to sit here and detail specific examples at this time of night, but the whole tone of the channel has completely changed. It's aimed at the lowest common denominator now. The channel is all style no substance with swishy graphics galore and very little of the high quality reporting of old. The line is crossed too often in the desperate pursuit of new angles to a story. Breaking news is the emphasis even when there's very little to say. Everything is broken down and repeated constantly. Excellent reporters/presenters have left or been made redundant and either not replaced or replaced with somebody no more than competent. The utterly loathsome Burley's brand of journalism is encouraged, celebrated even. Where on earth are the positives? Can you name a single area in which they are stronger now than they were in about 8 years ago?

If it wasn't for the Monday night Press Preview, I could quite easily drop Sky News altogether. BBC News wipes the floor with it on a daily basis. But it never used to be that way. I find it incredible that anyone could think the gap between them in terms of quality isn't as wide as it's ever been, so much so that I question how much of what I read on here is genuine opinion from a member of the public and not somebody affiliated in some shape or form with BSkyB.

Brazier has let himself down and not Sky News. They're only apologising for this because there's been a bit of uproar. But they'll be sure to check the ratings report tomorrow before checking the contents of any complaints and if their hours of unedifying coverage did well then job done I suspect. But all the time their "core" day to day audience must be getting smaller, because frankly, who wants to watch this kind of thing ?

Lost the Remote. Try watching some of the international bulletins and news channels and what Brazier did while wrong was nothing on a par with what was being broadcast on Life News or RT over the last three days. RT in particular will certainly feature on another Ofcom Broadcast Bulletin and be sanctioned, while Sky will probably get a slap on the wrist.

Sky News may have become slightly more tabloid than of late, but Sky still excels at breaking news and the reporting from Gaza is on a par with what other established channels are producing. Having Ms Tadros, the ex AJE presenter/reporter has given them an advantage on the ground than having a British reporter.

I don't really see the issue with him touching 2 objects from an opened bag, for like 5 seconds, live on air.

The question is who unpacked that red bag and put all those personal objects on the ground, perfectly categorized and displayed to be filmed by camera? If that was done by Sky people then that's truly disgusting.

I respectfully disagree.

It's a crime scene, and Brazier (nor anybody else, be they journalists, or the so called Russian separatists), should even be walking over it, never mind picking up objects

There's clearly a big issue of him doing that, on live tv. What if a distraught family member had seen that, a completley random person searching through the bag of someone's personal belongings. It's a crime scene, a journalist obviously would have known that. What Colin Brazier did was shocking, terrible and quite frankly disgusting. He knew he was doing wrong, but didn't stop until he was rummaging in the bag...
IMO.

Those bags were clearly opened by others before Colin went through one persons bag.

Doesn't matter. If someone has burgled a house, and left the front door open, that doesn't mean anyone else can go in there for a look ?

God can you imagine the fuss if Kay had done it?

That hasn't stopped these supposed pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine causing atrocities not seen, which I believe were the ones who tipped out the luggage for the world's media. What he did was wrong, but the rule of (Ukranian) law isn't exactly being enforced is it?

It most certainly isn't, and apologies for an overused cliché, but 'two wrongs don't make a right',
Everybody from this end of Europe, should apply the moral code we all live by, and take a good (literal) step back and grant the dignity and respect the victims and their families deserve. They should really be robustly questioning whether our leaders are pushing the matter of investigator access sufficiently, (there's an awful lot of rhetoric, but not enough action in my (off topic) opinion).

Continued use of pictures of twisted wreckage and belongings isn't really very helpful now, they need to concentrate on the politics, and start doorsteping leaders.

I'm really not comfortable with any of our journalists wandering about in the wreckage, they risk failing to relate the bigger picture.
