Can't find anything about it online, but overnight who presents the business and where from?

It comes from South Africa's Business Day (previously Summit TV South Africa). Judging from Twitter, it appears Jennifer Su is the presenter https://twitter.com/jennifer_su/

Thanks, I've just got to wonder why there? Could Luquesa not just do it?

Apparently the world news slot has quite a few viewers in South Africa at that time on Sky News International so perhaps it is just to appeal to them?

"We apologise for the poor sound quality" caption on screen during CBS News. Now sure if it is a CBS or Sky caption, it wasn't in either of their styles, it was just white text. Although the British spelling of 'apologise' probably points to it being Sky's doing.

Same caption has just appeared on the 5.30am repeat, so must be a problem with the copy of the bulletin Sky have.

Yes. It looks like they lost the signal.

"Video Alarm Detected" - a strange error message if ever I've seen one.

It's the message that appears on the output of an IRD (satellite receiver) when it loses its signal or video lock. It is turn-offable according to preference.

I always assumed that Sky pre-recorded the bulletin and played it out later, though presumably even if it was they wouldn't have been able to do much with the big hole in the feed

I think this actually confirms what you assumed. The fault caption appeared just before the audio became distorted and disappeared just after it returned to normal, <20 seconds in total. It wasn't someone in the gallery putting the caption up live.

More likely it was put up on air live from the gallery, they just knew when it was needed
