I could be wrong but I believe Botting was on holiday in the Lake District at the time, as she mentioned she was going on the press preview if I remember rightly.

Stephen Dixon also has roots up there I believe.
I was thinking they might have brought in Anna Botting sooner as she has local knowledge of the Lakes, I believe, as she holidays/partly lives there but Live at Five it is. Good effort to get her in position.

I wonder if Sky News will use the pictures from this press conference in their next promo. The camera operator can't get near because all the other reporters and crew are standing in front of them. Each time a new person speaks, we get shots of the back of heads as the camera operator tries to find a gap.

Or the bit where Anna Botting says "You're live on Sky News" and he turns to the BBC, waiting for Chris Stewart to give an introduction. Somehow I doubt this will end up being repeated...

I do think after a slow start Sky have passed out the BBc on their coverage now, Anna doing fantastically. Would like to see Steve Dixon out on location in his home region

Was just about to post along those lines, a slow start but Sky certainly providing very impressive and comprehensive coverage now. Anna Botting is doing a superb job. Hopefully they will drop the NSW bulletins tonight like they did with the Ash Crisis.

Whilst Anna has been good the fact is they completely missed the story unfolding - there's not necessarily anything they could have done about that as the BBC obviously have more resources, but they have been outdone quite comprehensively.
