The BBC also left PMQ's a couple of minutes ago.
They have BBC Parliament showing it, so to me, it makes sense to leave after a short while.
As for Sky News Red Button - since the relaunch, the main problem is no full screen as shown in this situation is a great annoyance.
Probably the right decision to stick with the Cumbria story over PMQ's, might allow Sky's coverage to catch up with the BBC when most people tuning in will probably want more on the big breaking story rather than PMQ's.

Try pressing SKY followed by 5,0 and 4. That should do it.
Sky News Active is atrocious... You can't properly watch PMQs, or get it on full screen.

Just been to the dentist and all TVs were carrying BBC News instead of Sky News for updates. Can't say I'm surprised after their poor coverage early on.

The Dentist really should focus on his job

I guess that if you’re just switching on it’s possibly more use to see the areas affected in this story rather than just the shot of an empty street.
Why are Sky News not showing their live pictures full screen? They started showing them spilt with PMQs but now they are just showing a map on the other half of the screen.
It makes me think it could be a poor quality picture that wouldn't withstanding being made full screen?

When the floods were happening a few months ago there was a lot of praise for Sky News' coverage, they were in the right place at the right time. It's very different this time though, Sky are struggling
There was a flood warning though wasn't there, giving advanced notice. Unlike in this case.
Indeed, but they still had the good fortune to choose the right place to go - Sky were in Cockermouth whereas the Beeb went to Penrith.
It's all just luck really, that time Sky were lucky, this time they weren't

Absolutely, I have seen it full screen and presumably it will be when the press conference happens in a bit. But until then there's not much point having it full screen, especially with all the 'HD real estate' as the yanks call it
