On the contrary, I always thought Kay came across as quite "techy" to be honest. She persisted longer than most with that tablet thingy she always carries, then again so does Anna Jones.

Saw the iPad in a shop today - weird looking thing. I think you'd really need to be sitting down to be able to get a grip of it properly. It's skinny.

Has Stephen Dixon's hair always been that colour, or is just my new HD telly that's making everything look different?

My wife noticed that!! She thought it might be gel or something.

Stephen Dixon had his iPad out on News at Ten yesterday, seems like this will be their new tablet pc. Wonder how Kay Burley will adapt to more technology.

Has she ever had a problem adapting to new technology?

Not sure, but she'll probably blame a mistake that she makes on it.

If you don’t think Kay Burley is a good journalist, fine. I really don’t get this irrational hatred of her on other grounds though.

You know, it was very, you know, interesting, you know, to hear, you know, what Julian, you know, had to say, you know.

No Live Desk today I noticed. More $ky cost cutting. Why have 3 presenters cover 10pm to 5pm when you could get by on just 2?

I've been playing with one for a couple of weeks - and have no real problem using it. Find I mainly use it landscape when sat down, and portrait when stood up. Think you really have to balance it on your leg with your legs sort of crossed - but then typing on the keyboard in landscape mode is pretty easy - though if you need to be able to take notes in a formal situation a bluetooth keyboard pairs pretty easily. (Which sort of turns the set-up into a notebook with a removable keyboard...)

Where it excels is in handheld web browsing - doing quick googles, imdbs etc. on the sofa. Wouldn't use it for the same things I use my netbook for (which is computing on the go) - but if I didn't usually have a laptop in the lounge, then it would be a useful sofa-surfing device.

That's always the case on Bank Holidays.

Not so. Sky News have carried an afternoon edition of The Live Desk at 1pm on every Bank Holiday for at least the past year or so, excluding Christmas. This time it was listed on the EPG but Sky ran an extra hour of NSW instead.

I find the Live Desk pointless anyway, basically just another hour of Sky News Today wrapped up slightly different. Thinks were so much better back in the days of just "Sky News"

Does anyone know how they done scheduling back in around 2001? For example was it Kay Burley & Co host for four hours, with single headed in the second half of each hour?

Talking of scheduling and "second half hours", I wish Sky News would stop dividing their shows up into 30 minute blocks for no good reason at all. No reason really why it can't be one slot on the EPG for each show - but at most divide them into hour-long blocks.

I'd have thought Sky would rather have the next "programme" advertised on the now/next EPG rather than "next" being exactly the same as "now".

Isn't it to do with ratings - half hour blocks seem to have higher ratings than hour long blocks

Sad. They can find enough (cheap?) material to fill two hours on a weekend lunchtime but can't even manage a full hour on a Bank Holiday. Surely it can't be that hard to find a few guests to interview to fill one full hour?

I like the Press Preview having it's own slot for ease or recording. Wish they could do a series link for it.
