I do find Sky News' weather team extremely sexist. Only one male... they're all for equality at Sky News, well with there only being one male weather presenter - that's sexist, I'm sorry. It should be a balanced team.

Well when Sky News relaunched in 2006 I'm sure Francis said something about not being able to find any decent male forecasters. Read into that what you will. But it's not really sexist just because Sky has a largely female team, just imagine a couple of decades ago female forecasters were very much in the minority.

It's only sexism if Sky intentionally hired female candidates over male candidates because they were female. Until you can prove that male candidates with the same or better qualifications, on-screen presence, experience and ability was were turned down because of their gender you shouldn't make such a sweeping, potentially defamatory comment.

I notice that Mark Longhurst is on the newswheel tonight.

He's done it quite a few times in recent weeks.

That's a regular shift for Mark isn't it? I believe the NSW slots were filled by these presenters:

Monday- ML
Tuesday- LD (maternity leave)
Wednesday- CR (gone?)
Thursday- SD
Friday- PM

I noticed that this morning the text for the temperatures on the Newswall has become much bigger, that's a smart move by Sky it's much easier to read now.
Not the best advert they've ever done now being broadcast - just because the Unite secretary asked which camera was in the middle he decided to go with Sky over the BBC. Pure chance really, if it had been the BBC directly in front of him he would've shunted Sky for them.

It makes me wonder why they didn't use the heckler saying "Sky News is sh*t" in a promo.

Two presenters staying (say one Mon-Thu, and one Fri-Sun) so it is indeed almost certain some freelance cover will be needed. Unless they use the weather producer as on-air cover (sometimes happens on CNNI)

The Guardian have edited the story to say
Quote:
will see the six-strong weather team likely reduced to four
.

How will they keep 4 presenters busy unless they are all going part time?

That seems rights. Just that it's rare for it to happen like that since understandably if another show needs a cover presenter, the NSW presenter is often used and a more junior presenter put on NSW

There was already some kind of demonstration flag behind her on the TOTH.

Burley interviewing Harmen,

"Women MPs??"

Harmen looked at her puzzled, Burley had to clarify what she meant by the two word question.

Burley is a fan of asking lazily short questions with no verbs and more often than not, the interviewee has to ask for clarification or simply can't hear what she says.

She shouldn't be allowed anywhere where she doesn't have to read a script...

Saw the promo earlier, a pretty poor attempt really.
