How will the changes affect weather on Five, which is (or at least was) done by the Sky News weather forecasters following the loss of a dedicated presenter. Will they become recorded in mornings by the Breakfast presenter, read out by the newsreader (as is done on C4) or something else?

That's what happens anyway, so nothing will change on Five bar less faces.

Joanna Rice is doing the weather today, so she hasn't gone yet.

I was under the impression she was freelance anyway so less likely to be affected as much. The freelancers may well stay the same.

I reckon though that Sarah Jane Mee should join Mark at the weekends instead of Gillian.
Although in the summer she does Cricket AM, and in the winter does football First in the evenings, both on Sky Sports at the weekends, making a regular Sky News slot not likely.

I've seen her on weekend Sunrise before, despite her Sky Sports commitments with Football First, so it's possible.

It's very rare for her to do both Saturday and Sunday Sunrise due to Football First (understandably) while Cricket AM will make it impossible for her to do Saturday Sunrise in the summer. Though I think she is better staying as she is, not being fixed to a slot and doing both news and sport. For example she can easily replace Charlotte or Jacquie during the week - if she was tied to weekends they would either need different weekday cover or she wouldn't be on at weekends much

Matt Smith on Live at Five. What a joke Sky News is turning into.

Not for the first time. I thought Live At Five was meant to be the flagship show. Even at weekends in the past it has got a fairly senior cover presenter.

Two presenters staying (say one Mon-Thu, and one Fri-Sun) so it is indeed almost certain some freelance cover will be needed. Unless they use the weather producer as on-air cover (sometimes happens on CNNI)

Is the weather producer likely to be one of the current weather presenters, or a normal producer? If so, that may explain why Lisa Burke is expected to not be one of the 2 remaining presenters. She may be moving to more of a production role.
Or is that far-fetched....

The Guardian have edited the story to say

will see the six-strong weather team likely reduced to four

He's done it quite a few times in recent weeks.
