I don't think you can really call me an hypocrite for posting a comment on someone's YouTube video, in reply to a 'comment' which they sent out to millions of people. My comment was in reply and had a motive where as his was an attack on Sky or FOX as he likes to call them. Very Happy

I think he has a motive too. Wink

Nonetheless, I don't think Sky are quite as bad as some say. I think they do have a bias/agenda; but its not as in-your-face as Faux News.

But Burley - meh, she should be sent to the knackers yard.

But to be honest If we all looked hard enough we could find one in each broadcaster. The Alistair Campbell/Adam Boulton thing was ridiculous I feel sorry for him because his job is really important to him and he is proud to do it and after all that effort to be accused of been biased is ridiculous, was just Campbell spitting his dummy out.

Come on, even Kay doesn't deserve that.

EDIT: And that does just prove what a professional she is, after three minutes of the video I was wanting to strangle that man, and she had what...three afternoons of that? Plus the comparison of her to Glenn Beck is just downright ignorant.

I completely agree - and that guy did get worse, which we didn't see in that video. Or it was another guy with a megaphone, in the infamous "Sky News is ****! Watch the BBC!" video.

The trouble with Sky News is it's links to the Murdoch empire - and frankly the only way Sky can avoid such accusations is if the Murdoch press don't support any party too. It's difficult to see Sky as objective when the rest of the Murdoch portfolio clearly has an agenda, even when they're as squeaky clean as they insist they are.

And the trouble with Adam Boutlon is he likes to be presenter, reporter and guest all roled into one - if he could I'm sure he'd love a show where he just talks to himself for an hour.

Perhaps that's what they were thinking with "The Boulton Factor".

Are you saying that for the last 18 years when the Murdoch press supported Labour, Sky News was biased towards Labour?

Just to throw in my tuppence worth . . . I've re-watched the Boulton-Campbell spat quite a few times on YouTube and, aside from any accusations of bias, I still can't find any reason to defend Adam Boulton in terms of general professionalism.

His body language seemed unnecessarily adversarial throughout the interview. Even in the early stages of the interview, it was blatently clear that Boulton had a disregard for Campbell. For a Political Editor to 'roll his eyes' at a guests comment live on air - however ridiculous that comment may be - is, in my opinion, a disgrace. It appeared that he descended into personal argument with Campbell, to the extent that he seemingly forgot what his position was.

I think most importantly that Boulton displayed total disrespect for Jeremy Thompson. When Thompson stepped in to stop the argument, and attempted to move on, Boulton should have immediately realised that he should stop talking. For Sky News' political editor to continue a 'spat' with a guest while the anchor - standing right beside him - is trying to broadcast live - brings his professionalism and integrity seriously into question.

Just my opinion, anyway. Wink

At the end of Sky World News (just after the screengrab above), there was a montage of some of the day's images using the old bed.

Wish they'd stop crediting Sky Sports HD, when the original transmission was not in HD.

Sky Sports themselves only mention the HD channel if the broadcast is in HD. I think Sky News should do the same.

People watching Sky News will assume the cricket from the West Indies is in HD, when it isn't.

The opening shots on Sky News Today really are superb. Interesting that the Sky News Today logo doesn't use the Sky News logo and just has Sky News written as regular text.

Thanks for the caps.

Interesting write up of Sky's election in the Guardian
Quote:
Sky News had both a great election and a terrible one. Great, because it won its campaign for the TV debates – and took full advantage.

In the round, I thought the Sky debate was the best. It had the best build-up and aftermath, and the best expression online. Sky do big news events brilliantly, and this one was no exception. And their rolling coverage was mostly great. But obviously Sky had the big blunder moments of the election too, with the on-air meltdowns of Kay Burley and Adam Boulton. Burley, in particular, has turned into a parody of herself and Sky's decision to make her the centrepiece of their daytime election coverage exposed her weaknesses.

She has developed a formula for live news that makes it almost unwatchable. Constant use of the present participle: "Gordon Brown will be telling you about his plans for the economy today... we're taking you live to Downing Street shortly" and mangled up in sentences like "David Milliband telling us he's running for Labour leader". Ugh, she drives me mad.
