The only issue I had was that all the graphics were on the Newswall, way behind Martin sitting at the desk, which made them impossible to read on SD, and you couldn't really see the videos right in the far-right of the Wall.

I assume the island hadn't returned then

The island did return, and am I right in saying they've moved it back, as on Election Night it was further to the left. I watched in SD and had no problem reading what was on the Newswall, and didn't see anything cut away at all. A good show for their first time back, although the logo shown after Martin had finished at the TOTH was very messy.

As for Jeff Randell Live, I can't believe they didn't update the titles, surely the Endcap needed changing, as it doesn't align with the others now, as it is in style of the pre-HD graphics. The music is understandable in my eyes though, as it differentiates it from the other shows, which has been shown across Sky News.com & Randell and Boulton Unleashed.

Yep - as others have suggested - Sky have created an issue in making Adam Boulton such a key element of their election coverage. He can be very good - but he has obviously been stretched far too thin - and the cracks have begun to show. Whether this was Adam's decision or someone else's - it was wrong (though hindsight is a wonderful thing)

The BBC are lucky in that they have such a strong team currently. Dimbleby can do the special BBC One stuff brilliantly (he is just a fluent broadcaster and incredibly watchable - and listenable to) - and he's still the go-to man for the major occasions as the ratings prove.

Nick Robinson does a very good job as the main political face on BBC One bulletins, ably supported by James Landale.

Laura K has been a total star for the BBC News channel - again a fluent and confident broadcaster who is incredibly comfortable to watch on-screen. And then you also have the backup troops like Carol Walker, Gary O'Donoghue etc. who are all perfectly competent. And for a different approach you've got Paxman and Marr. Tie into that Huw Edwards and Jon Sopel as presenters on BBC One and the News Channel - both with strong Westminster pedigrees - and you have a team that is confident, professional, fluent - and most importantly watchable and credible. (I suspect that having a very good team producing them all is also quite useful)

I think Sky need to rethink their policy on having a single "star" political face.

I think Sky need to rethink their policy on having a single "star" political face.

I could see a few potential solutions - Sky could either poach someone from the BBC or ITV as a political reporter/presenter, increase the political profile of an existing presenter such as Dermot Murnaghan (make him into something of a Jon Sopel figure) or perhaps give one of the more junior political correspondents such as Niall Paterson a chance to do some presenting so that they could share some of the burden.

They do. I was giving one example of what I thought they could do, if they so desired. The current political team is Adam Boulton, Jon Craig, Joey Jones, Glen Oglaza, Peter Spencer and Niall Paterson.

As for the above video - wow.

Come on, even Kay doesn't deserve that.

EDIT: And that does just prove what a professional she is, after three minutes of the video I was wanting to strangle that man, and she had what...three afternoons of that? Plus the comparison of her to Glenn Beck is just downright ignorant.

So will today be the first full day back at Sky News Centre since it went HD?

Can't see much point in any OBs now.

And surely both Kay and Adam will get a day or two off at least!

According to the Independent no holiday for Adam until August!

I felt it was only right to inquire when Mr B – (trust me, he loves it when you call him that) – was going to finally don the sombrero and take a well-earned holiday!

While moved by my concern, the man himself was at pains to assure me he wouldn't be troubling easyJet for some time to come. "New government and Labour leadership contest," he emailed. "So no holiday for me until August when my first date is helping my father to clear out 85 years of paperwork. Dull – know. Sorry x." Round two, Alastair!
