Have not yet made comment on the new look, so I will now.

In all, I'm very impressed with the entire refresh. The new TOTH sequence looks stunning, and the music is superb. Still unsure about the new headline bed though. The new graphics look really good and much more pleasing on the eye. All in all, the relaunch is a much needed kick up the arse for Sky News, and I applaud it.

One other thing... is it just me, or is Kay Burley the only presenter referencing the HD channel?

I know there has been a few queries regarding the techical side of Sky news HD outside broadcasts I just want to clarify a few things.

Most of fibre wallbox input nodes are now upgraded to HD infrastructure these are in key places like Downing St,Opposite house of commons,Law courts and various other regular broadcast venues the majority of these are provided by BT but are done by others like SNG ltd.

For OBs outside of these points most uplinks are provided by SIS Live who now have over 24 HD uplink units available for use although not all used by Sky these are placed around the country to cover news as it breaks and to help being first on the scene.

For demanding times like now and the Elections Sky also used Arqiva for some HD uplinks again to cover as many places as possible on election night some sng units from abroad were also used along with 20 other SIS lIve SD uplink units

I'm in two minds as to whether all of these live sweeps between Downing Street, Lib Dem HQ, Portcullis and Westminster are clever and effective, or just downright annoying.

You know something is about to happen when Alastair Bruce arrives on scene. Always offers superb insight.

Having a slight behind-the-scenes look at ITV News' Chris Ship on Sky News this afternoon from their Cabinet Office camera. Not particular exciting, mind...

Also seems that Sky are having problems with their sidebar in the last hour. It has appeared briefly (on both sides of the screen) but without a background so it's been hastily removed.

JT allowing Charlie Wheelan to vent his annoyance at the Rupert Murdoch press. No challenge from JT, as professionally as ever allowing him to do so and not challenging it.

Why would he challenge it? The Rupert Murdoch press is not Sky News. It's not as though he was having a go at Sky News or its personnel.

Fair point, the point I was trying to make was that had it been say Kay or Adam they might have been as professional but I get what you mean. Great to have JT on air for the big event.

Anna Botting taking over from JT as Cameron heads to the Palace. Superb coverage from Sky tonight.
