And the grey and red carpet and the bottom has gone and replaced by a shiny black floor.
The 'Six of the Best' video on Sky News for iPad shows the new videowall in the background. Can't see much of it but looks very shiny, a little taller but narrower than the last one, and with a jib set up in front of it.

Could be completely wrong here, but maybe the black floor is a platform for a new desk? Looking at these images, the black floor platform is closer to the current desk than the old news wall platform was. Looking at the newsroom back drop, that also seems to be set further back than the new platform/wall? It could however just be the perspective or angle of the image.

I think it would have been a better idea to replace the old videowall with a VR area, much like the area in the BBC's Election 2010 studio. It would give them more flexibility, because a) it gives opportunities for various set extensions b) it allows different sets to be used for different shows c) allows Martin (or whoever) to use the area more flexibly for elections/events d) it can be used to show maps/models relating to stories.

It also presents lots of logistical problems, for little benefit for the viewer.
