Exactly, whereas there is more need to replace the desk.

Why????? There's nothing wrong with the current desk.

Oh it is! Look at the lighting, it's out of order since july 2011
I mean IMO there was more wrong with with the desk than with the wall! (If there even was something wrong with the wall!)

I will admit that I prefer the original desk that was there when the Sky News Centre opened in 2005. The current one looks like it isn't really suitable for a news channel, but more for a single anchored bulletin on a general entertainment channel.

Presentation seems to be coming from back at sky centre tonight, although still not showing the news wall side of the studio.

Same tonight we just got a sweeping shot showing the studio and sunrise set

So all the major work on the wall is complete and the white screens around it have been removed, finishing touches probably being made now, and we may see the wall on Monday.

I wonder if there is anything to be read into the change of font I've noticed on the translation subtitles on 2 different reports today (the ones that have a full-width semi-transparent grey strap behind them)? They appeared to be using the Sky corporate font, which I don't think Sky News uses for anything other than promos at the moment.

Whatever happens regarding the presentation, I hope they ditch the all caps and move to sentence case. I find it much more readable, and more pleasant to look at when the graphics are on screen pretty much all the time.

I could see it happening, if only to fit in with Sky's current 'house style'.

We may see it, but will the presenters be using it? Or stuck behind the desk like shrubs still?

I wasn't aware that shrubs were normally found behind a desk.

Anyway, I'm sure they won't have gone to the effort of fitting new bits of set to not use them in a useful way. That doesn't have to involve standing up either!

You'd enjoy them more if they were near to you and visible - having them at the front of the desk would mean they're not as appreciable.
