Although I'm sure we won't see a new set like the Arabic one until Sky News moves to Sky studios... Something that looks not too dissimilar to this would be nice.

I've also always preferred the Sky News Arabia logo. The current UK 'sky' part of the logo in black font doesn't really match the other Sky channel logo brands (all the other Sky channel logos are white/transparent).

If they are replacing the news wall, they ought to start using it, rather than having it there as invisible furniture half the time!

I don't understand why the now make every changes step by step (toth business and backgrounds in mid 2012, graphics and sports in 2013 and now the studio) instead of waiting and do a complete relaunch with everything at the same time!

That's just not always practical in reality to change it all at once unless it's a full rebrand. Often budget, and other commitments and projects can effect the timescales of when things are refreshed or updated. You forget it also probably takes a long time and a lot of people to complete these kinds of changes from editorial, design and technical support.

They seem to go through phases of using the newswall a lot and then phases of not using it at all or trying to make it invisible like the time they put the newsroom on it, If they are going to the expense of a shiny new 1 then I would expect them to start using it a lot more again

How often have we seen it over the last month? Usually for 5 seconds at the toth, weather on sunrise and the odd over the shoulder graphics from the desk that's about it

Lets get Kay walking across it again too before the toth break to add a bit of variety to the presentation

I wonder why the have replaced Anna Botting at the end of the "wherever you are" promo with Kay

Not sure whether it's just coincidence that they have a lot more on-location reporting and hosting of news shows in the last couple of weeks. JT and Andrew Wilson both featuring on location, plus the 24 hours in A&E special program last weekend to name a couple of examples.

I'd say the JT/Andrew thing was not planned and just happened to fall right into place for them, while A&E Live I don't think the upgrade had started then, though I'm not sure.

Any pictures posted of "work in progress" seem to be hastily taken down. Not sure why they are being so secretive around the refurb/replacement of the Newswall, unless its part of a bigger revamp!

I suppose this is about the only time the generic 'This is Sky News with...' work for us annoraks - rather than the old 'Live, from the Sky News Centre...' as, during the daytimes - they're in Westminster at the moment.

I really doubt a decorated journalist like Anna Botting will worry about this - she has a man, child and a lovely journalism award all at home. In saying that Kay was much more involved in this baby story than Anna was, so having Kay's voice in this promo was probably acknowledging her hard work and long hours at St Mary's. How they did not just use Kay to begin with is odd but perhaps egos were at play in switching this once the horse bolted?

Although inconclusive it looks as though there is no change to the main pres desk. In regards to tweets being removed and that creating speculation of a major overhaul I don't think the two can be connected. The same thing happened when Sky were revamping the Shoebox - staff got into hot water for tweeting pictures of the ongoing work. What I would like to see though is the return of the island. For me nothing showed off the news wall better than the wide shots we saw during Afternoon Live, so I think if they're going to maximise the full potential of the new news wall the island should make its return.

And it seems the newsroom backdrop will also be renewed. But I think it would have been more important to change the desk!

Tweet from Iain Dale in which he says they will be based in the Milbank studio for five weeks!

Another tweet from Anna Botting in which she says the newswall remake will take a 'few weeks'.

As far as the desk goes, they could always change it later on in the process - they are still using it at the moment (albeit fleetingly). I don't think it actually requires changing either, I guess it might be nice to have something a little less clunky looking but it's not crying out to be changed.

As mentioned above, looks like they have taken down the newsroom backdrop (the two portrait screens displaying skynews.com) as well. Perhaps the new design will see the newswall flow into the newsroom?
