Whilst this new sports studio and new graphics are all very good, I'm finding that there is too much emphasis on sports news. At the end of the day I want to see the news, not the sports news. If viewers want in depth sports news they can subscribe to sky sports news.

I can also see this new setup increasing the staleness of the standard news presentation, further limiting interaction between presenters for lighter news stories and increasing the use of one standard camera angle for the entire bulletin. With the exception of sunrise (which is one of the best performing programmes of the day) We appear to have gone from having 4/5 presenters (3 news, 1 sport and 1 weather) working as a team for a bulletin in 2005, to just 1 main presenter and 1 sports presenter (in a completely different room/ building) today. This happening in a main studio that is now looking dated and in-superior in comparison to other rivals.

You do realise that Sky Sports News is 99% Football most of the year and that's how it survives as a business.

At the end of the day I want to see the news, not the sports news. ..

And you speak for the nation?

No he doesn't speak for the nation hence the "I" - its his own opinion and one we're all entitled to so just comment on the issue instead of the poster.

Anyway, I agree with the sentiment that this is little more that a promotion of another channel. You don't see Sky Sports News crossing over to Sky News to get the latest news. Although it is necessary for a sports bulletin on Sky News I can see already Sky News making further cutbacks in terms of presenters and using Sky Sports News presenters instead of the likes of Chris Skudder, Jon Desborough, Charlie Thomas and Rob Curling.

Something which I believe has also slipped under the radar is the departure of Jeff Randall from Sky News - another huge setback...

Where actually is this sky news sports presentation place located in the harlequin, its obviously not the main sky sports news studio.

Sorry to backtrack, but as nobody had answered the question, I came across this tonight, which I thought may help somebody....

dB Broadcast supported by Sky engineers have designed a small two camera bulletin studio, which was installed on the third floor of the Sky Studio building in an area previously allocated as office space and used for Sky Sports bulletins within Sky News programmes. From http://www.dbbroadcast.co.uk/recentProjects.asp

Hope that helps!

PS I've no connection with dBB at all - just browsing their website!

Does Sky News actually still have the Studio B, because when they now have problems with their main studio they seem to divert to westminster.

When I looked at the revamped on-screen look for Sky News some weeks ago. It's SD logo even now looks very small.

I do like the look of the Sports Bulletins especially at the weekends for example when they show football scores from the EPL & the SPL. It is a big improvement when compared to the last set of Sky News graphics for the sports news. Other graphics would be a big welcome as well when other sports are being presented on the day.

The Business graphics look exactly the same from it's HD feed. It's a small improvement there as well.
