Glad they've made the switch, a lot tidier as well!

Ive not seen SKYNEWS today are the sports bulletins in the news studio with a different background or Sky Sports Centre. Since the removal of Sky News programme names it felt like Sports should have been moved to the sports centre like the BBC adopted. The Graphics make it even better!

Im not sure of the big black & yellow breaking news strap on Sky Sports at the mo without a ticker.

when they used the split screen to join the sports news, it was credited as Sky Sports Centre (or something along the lines as that)

HD Panels are still on HD only. Why have the HD graphics moved slightly to the right into a new safe area? I think they looked much better previously.

Agree, the backgrounds on the red straps and all the graphics seem to be of a lower quality as well, and the presenter isn't properly lined up either , since the image seems to be in the center of the graphics, rather than the center of the screen.

Like with the US elections, the HD graphics have been downgraded to cater for the SD audience,, can't say I agree with it being done. All for them improving the SD graphics but no need to make the HD experience worse in the process. It just looks weird now.

From what I can see the HD graphics are now based on the new 16:9 SD graphics which have a safe area, a safe area is ridiculous on 16:9. It seems from a presentation point of view we've decided to dumb down the HD to suit the SD, rather than taking full advantage of HD.

Why could they not just use an exact copy of the 16:9 graphics on HD on SD? They manage it on Sky Sports News so why not here?

Now the Sports News is on, and they'res a sizeable safe area on the right on HD like on the left, but on SD there is no safe area on the right? Talk about the wrong way around.

16:9 has a safe area, flatscreen televisions still overscan parts of the image. And from experience unless you're using HDMI/watching a HD channel you can't use the 'Just Scan/Screenfit' to turn overscan off.

I have to leave the overscan on because my TV is 16:10, and the just scan mode fills the entire screen (meaning a slight but noticeable sense of squashyvision).

But the point still stands that the HD graphics shouldn't have been touched, they were perfect before and followed the 16:9 safe area.

Before the changes there was a quite noticeable border on Just Scan all around the image, but on pure 16:9 the graphics were always up to the edge of the screen almost with a small thin safe area under the ticket and to the left of the ticket.

Now on just scan there is a safe area which is twice as big as it was before, whilst on 16:9 there is a safe area that is bigger than it was on just scan before the changes.

Yes.

I am wondering how Kay Burley copes with the change that no sports presenter is beside her from now on.
