Well that is the worst start to a midnight news I've ever seen from a presentation point of view.

No Top of the Hour sequence. (panning Sky News Logo)
Problems with the Top Story Headlines (What Lukwesa was reading was not what was coming up on screen, like they'd messed up the timing. and also even the graphics seemed to be out of sync with what pictures were being shown with the pictures being a few seconds ahead of the graphics, so at one point you had Lukwesa talking about Egypt, A caption for Madeline McCann on the Screen at a picture of Jon Venables)

Then even at the end of it all there was a LIVE swish and sound before abruptly cutting to the studio , with Lukwesa sitting there muttering something looking confused, with no graphic for her name, looking at her desk eveyr few seconds reciting something fom it rather than autocue (which was obviously broken or she didn't trust), doing a link to a report, which didn't occur, to which she had to apologise and then move on to something else.

Sky News dipped in to a live interview from Wimbledon with Alex Salmond just before 18:00. This was being shown live on BBC News at the time. How were Sky able to take it?

Probably a prior agreement that it would be a pool interview for all the broadcasters.

Has the sound gone funny for anyone else on SD Freeview?

Edit: Sounds ok again at 4pm

Unusual name strap design going on right now for the funeral coverage of Lee Rigby. Title case as opposed to upper case text, the same width as the business and sport graphics that appear above the ticker.

I noticed a massive name strap for Dharshini David at the gherkin a few days ago. I mean, really huge.

Ok maybe a graphics refresh is coming.

didn't Sky open an LA bureau recently? Haven't seen it used that often and Tom Parmenter is covering events on the West Coast from Washington.

Murnaghan has finished for this season and will return on Sunday, September 1st. The Sky EPG does say the programme is on next week.

Are we in for a possible studio revamp? Sky News being presented from the Westminster studio this morning rather than Sky News Center.
