Theres a technology segment of Sky News tonight called Swipe presented by Phillipa Hall. Is this new, first time ive seen it.

I can't think what the inspiration for that name could have possibly come from...

Well I know 'Swype' is a type of keyboard used on Samsung Androids.

Apart from the fact you missed the obvious reference, a swipe is a standard touch-screen gesture.

If you want it explaining, I imagine the naming process went like this:

"We need a name for our show. I like the name of BBC's Click, but it needs to be modern..."
"What about... Swipe?"

Swipe has actually been a feature on skynews.com for a while now. Videos are uploaded to the site frequently with Sky presenters doing a quick round up of the tech news. I haven't seen it on tv but I presume it's just that but on the telly..?

Swipe has its own bulletins on Sky News International for more than half a year, presented by Niall.
On TV you can see it only on Sky News Intl, every weekend at :30 it includes an intro!

One of the straps from Richard Suchet's live shot went a bit wrong, with the text not wrapping, the strap extending off screen and leaving a blank row between it and the ticker.

Swipe... I bet Martin Stamford's not happy that he's not presenting that.

I do miss skynews.com or sky.com/news or whatever it was called.

Total graphics fail again at midnight for around 30 seconds when they all disappeared including ticker and logo.

You'd think by now they'd have sorted the overnight crew out, since these failures always happen from midnight onwards with graphics failures being unheard of during the day.

Issues during the 1am hour with John Craig live, but the locator stuck on latest.

As has been said, why after midnight do the Sky News gallery not know how to use the on screen graphics properly.
