I hope that what we saw today was a step in the right direction concerning the role the newswall plays in the sky news presentation.

I think the set, currently, suffers from dullness. Its all very well having the tons of fins, but they're hardly seen - all we get on the main shots are a dull red wall (behind the Sunrise/Press Preview anchor), the gallery (which again looks quite dull) and then during the day, a boring newsroom shot.

Thinking back to 2005, the set seemed so much more vibrant back then - the globe on the newswall seemed bright, the fins were seen a lot, etc.

Obviously, presentation isn't Sky's top priority but compared to the BBC and Sky News Arabia, the set looks quite drab in its current guise.

They had a lot more fins and it had a screen in it, also the old Sunrise area should be the sports news area.

Totally agreed!!!! The gallery has a black hole on the left, which is often seen in the backdrop and which doesn't look appropriate. The main desk looks like a mess and its lighting is not repaired since years. They even had a real globe in front of the gallery which was a genuine great looking and fitting backdrop, but it was removed in 2009. They should bring back the isle and I think when they wonīt change the studio, then they should reintroduce the newswall backdrop! All in all it appears to me as a kind of recent LAZINESS concerning the sky news presentation.

But it does?

The main desk at the Sky News centre:

The desk at the Westminster studio:

The main desk in Studio B:

They all match, with the Sunrise one looking slightly different but keeping in the same style overall...

It must have been a couple of years since Studio B was used!

Well now you canīt compare those two images because the main desk is now looking different due to the loss of light!

Even with the light off, if the desk is the same they're still all in the same style.

Apologies, last time I say Westminster I'm sure they had a lit Studio B desk.

Or do you mean the JRL city studio, because this triangle desk is the last one with the old design.
