slight tweak to the newswall weather graphics during Sunrise but the others used for the rest of the day are the same as before, Are these the new weather graphics mentioned earlier on here?
Don't think it has been noted here, but is this the first year for some time that sky news has not won a single award at the RTS news awards? Surely this should send some sort of signal that the channel is in need of a slight re-fresh? Everything seems very stale at present and has done for some time. The schedule especially has remained relatively unchanged since 2007, with the same presenters presenting the same slots. Even the studio is starting to look dull in comparison to Sky News Arabia. I also think the excellent journalism that channel once had has started to decline of late.

Totally agreed. It's definitely in need of a relaunch.
Nevertheless I would have given 50 States 50 Voices the innovative award.

Much as we might love to see a new set/ enjoy a presenter reshuffle, I don't believe this will help them. They need to improve the quality of the journalism - more Alex Crawford style reporting (which I seem to remember did them a lot of good last year). If the overall look of the channel through on screen graphics, set etc was soley responsible for winning awards, CNN would certainly NOT have won the news channel of the year award.
There will most likely be a reshuffle of sorts later in the year, I can't imagine Anna Botting wanting to do her old shift when she has a young baby when she returns.
I think only some tweaking is required. I disagree with some of the previous posts. I think the standard of reporters is at its highest in many years. Especially the foreign correspondents. Sam Kiley, Stuart Ramsay, Robert Nisbet and Alex Crawford are some of the highly regarded across any of the three main News Channels. However, it is true that their capabilities could be utilised better.
Regarding the set, I don't believe a revamp is needed. Id just like to see them use more of the vast newsroom that they have. For example I thoroughly enjoy what they do on Boulton and Co using the Westminster newsroom, it really adds pace to the program. Id love to see them using the balcony again would love to see them install a small news desk where the island was located.
On the graphics front I think they are far and beyond what the BBC News Channel offer but would like to see them get rid of the yellow breaking news ticker, it doesn't fit the graphics. Overall though I think Sky have the bones of being very good but just need to realise the potential at their disposal.
If it's true that CNN received the News Channel award then I'm sure this ceremony shouldn't render Sky News to 'refresh' itself. CNNI has virtually no news and whilst it has some stellar international correspondents, Sky News does too. Yes, the Sky News schedule is certainly not my cup of tea, but it beats CNN's sporadic gaps. I think a return to more interactive presentation (more Bolton&Co/Afternoon Live, less 1am clip show/JRL) will reinforce the interactivity of the iPad app, better website and the general brand identity.

The vast majority of the UK (i.e. target audience for Sky News) have never ever seen Sky News Arabia, let alone are aware of its existence.
Sky News seems to have lost the spark it had years ago. A couple of tweaks are needed, but they don't need to reinvent the wheel to gain awards. They just need an emphasis on quality journalism and innovation.
