Very odd looking back at the bigger ticker now that you mention it. For comparison:

They were just using the old straps combined with the new ticker size, which lead to a huge gap between ticker and strap

Just happened again now on that whole report, How odd that they are still on the system

What I liked about those graphics was the padding around the text, Most of the time now the padding on the right is much smaller than on the left and looks quite messy and would not be hard to fix

other than that I love the current graphics, When I first started watching I wasent keen on the straps only taking up the space of the text as it looked a mess when being used to the blocks of BBC News 24 and before that the ITV News Channel but soon got used to them and now its quite clever how it only takes up the minimum space needed, I also liked the graphics that flew in before the current ones

People might not want flashy graphics but for someone like me who watches it a lot, Presentation wise Sky News is much more enjoyable than the boring BBC and the graphics work at getting your attention whether it be the ticker going yellow, the flying breaking news transition or the massive red BREAKING NEWS strap that combined with the swooshes means you never miss anything if you have it on in the background

I do miss some of the other presentation points though, watching Kay Burley trying to get from the newswall to the island in time without tripping up was fun, the use of the newswall during the day, it gets very little use these days

SkyNews.com was a great programme and technology unplugged on a friday, Now they have ditched the 9:30pm press preview why not give SkyNews.com a go in that slot, there isnt much else on at that time so they should give it a go

They even appeared on the HD version as well in 4:3 safe zones but we had the usual 16:9 Sky news Logo and ticker.

It seems that what they may well have done is recorded the graphics hard onto the report so they could use it on both channels without putting them on manually for two different channels each time.

Hi! New to here...

I agree that the decision to get rid of afternoon live, live desk, etc. was a terrible decision, as well as sacking the weather presenters. I feel that Sky News is quite bland currently and so I prefer CNN for that reason with different programming. And the newswall could be used a lot more often.
But I think the current graphics work well, and look great in HD. I'm glad they're well differentiated from Fox News, whose swooshing graphics drive me insane and look tacky.

Oh and by the way, the Sky News weather graphics will be changing soon.

Hello and welcome. I totally agree with you on the points program and newswall. But why should they change the weather graphics again? I think the current ones are the most modern and understandable ones they ever had.

Sky News Australia modified their set a bit tonight with the addition of a soft area... not the great but they've tried to make it looks like UK and Arabia hahaha

IMO it looks better than the UK/Arabia set.

those graphics are truly awful and far too boxy.
