Would it not be easier/cheaper to present overnights and World News(Review and Business Report) from the multipurpose 'shoebox' set? Just one simple camera shot plus a screen if needed?
They are too obsessed with their gallery backgrounds sadly
Although how would it work out cheaper and easier for that matter?
DK
Cheaper because you don't have to power the massive video wall and the lighting inside the anchor desk, easier because in an hour, only 3 camera shots are used, the presenter, the TOTH and the paper review ( which could just be a zoom out of the presenter shot) plus the TOTH for that set is usually just the jib slowly moving down or just zooming rather than moving.

I thought exactly the same when I saw those ads! It seems to speak volumes about "TV justice" and the ever-more prevalent confrontational interview styles on TV ("We'll hold them to account by embarrassing them on live TV"), rather than reflecting the proper democratic process ("We'll present the facts, people will make up their minds, and they will hold their elected politicians to account at the ballot box").
Is that really the job of a journalist? Is it not the job of a journalist to report the facts and then we as the people hold politicians to account?

This afternoon just before News at Five Tim Marshall was discussing with the presenter the situation in Gaza. On the television screen that's located above the presenter's head, you could see on the wider shot a Sky News HD logo with the transparent "Sky" and "HD" background, which at first I mistook for Sky News Arabia's logo. Is this something that could be introduced soon?
SK
Was this presented from the shoebox? Maybe the contrast of the screen was low, so that it seemed as the logo was transparent.

No, it was the main newsdesk and it was the television that's above the presenter's head between them and the newsroom that you can see during the daytime.

I see. The next time I will pay attention to it.

"Apparently" according to who? It was used this morning when I was watching. Maybe your observational skills are failing you.
