It seems that a large screen has been installed in the gherkin studio.

He has done for a while now. He started using it during the coverage of the Autumn Statement almost a year ago

A question of general interest: Does somebody know what happens to on-screen furniture which they don't need anymore? For example what happened to the desk of the 2005 relaunch or the isles? Are they now used for any other purposes? Or who builds their desks and on screen elements?

Does anyone else agree that Sky's coverage of the U.S Election Coverage (specifically the conventions) has been bias towards the Republicans? When the Republicans had their convention Sky had 2 correspondents inside the venue, with a special programme anchored by Adam Boulton (which was advertised quite a bit), with repeats of Anne Romney's speech all day. I didn't see the Democratic Convention live, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have the special coverage they did on the Republican Convention like they did on the Democratic Convention today where Michelle Obama spoke. They had no correspondent at the venue, didn't advertise it and although they are covering it, it's no way near the top story/getting as much coverage on Sunrise; it's being presented by Gillian Joseph in the news round-up, with clips comparing it with Anne Romney.

Does anyone else think the same?

I sort of agree with you. But, Mitt Romney is a relatively new political figure now going for the top job in America. Not everyone knows what he stands for and what his party's take is on what the Obama administration has done. You could argue that Obama has had four years to prove himself and get his political beliefs across whereas mitt has only had a few months and within that has had to win a leadership contest as well, due to the system the Americans have adopted.

I suspect that closer to the elections, a more balanced approach to their coverage.

There will be a special programme with Adam Boulton from 1 am on Friday.

You're saying this as though the convention is over. Obama's keynote speech isn't until Friday morning UK time so why would Adam have presented a special programme yet? On Friday compare the overall coverage, but not after one day.

Obama's keynote speech is being broadcast live from 1-4am on Friday. Dominic Waghorn has presented at least one report so far on Michelle Obama, so there'll probably be even more coverage when the President takes the stage.

Greg Milam is in the convention centre now for Sky. Id say its more to do with the fact that its been pushed down the agenda due to the cabined reshuffle but Im sure it will get its due prominence come tonight, tomorrow and friday.

If I remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong) but that special programme was about the speech Mitt Romney's wife made.

Nope. The overnight with Adam was Mitt Romney's acceptance speech.
