huh, who, what, me? Alas, you've caught me at a bad time; I'm all out of tapes. Nor do I possess a DeLorean. Or the time to glean Sky News continuously on chance of comical mishap.

Did you mean: phil94?

Oh now I got it! . I am not someone who watches skynews 24 hours a day. Just 23 hours and 57 minutes. And those 3 minutes I didn't watch today appeared to be those when Dermot had to cough...Furthermore I don't have a capture device. Sorry..

I know it's not a new thing, but really, what's the point of the sports presenters wearing that tiny lapelle pin? I don't see the logic of it. And do the female sports presenters also wear it? If so, where? If not, why not? It's one of the strangest things I've ever seen on a news programme.

Why don't they make the newscasters wear a Sky News pin?

Probably to promote Sky Sports/News HD. And to show they're not anchors.

That's been going on for a few years now, actually. I think they wanted to associate the Sports news with SSN a bit more, so they used to have the Sky Sports News logo on the Newswall, and then the presenters wearing that pin on the lapel. Of course, the newswall isn't used during the main news stuff now, only when talking about a report and so on, so that doesn't really happen anymore.

In general the newswall is clearly used too seldom.

Just because it isn't used every 5 minutes for every story, and they don't use it as often as they used to because they don't present a 3 hour show from it, doesn't mean that they don't use it enough. Ugh.

I've been watching the news with subtitles on lately. How do they work, because I've noticed for some of the lunchtime bulletins, the subs are actually ahead of the presenter. Does this mean the subs are linked to the autocue? During breaking news coverage - and in most other situations - are they typed with the help of software and voice recognition, or do people still carry out the enviable task of repeating what the newsreaders and reporters have said?

On my feed it's usually a 5 second delay and sometimes wrong, so I guess it's voice recognition.
