After having a look at the second link and the stats for the viewers. It seems the 19:00-00:00 period is by far the most watched. So why do Sky habe the 19:00-21:00 period on a 15 minute loop, why don't they switch the 17:00-19:00 type schedule, with interviews and more news with the 19:00-21:00?

Perhaps that is why it's popular. Digestible news in a short space of time.

So why put so much effort into something that is less watched? Isn't that just a waste of rescources? And I also doubt it, because the viewers numbers are going up suggesting they stay with the channel.

So, in your opinion, they should make the popular 1900-2100 slot more like the less popular 1700-1900 slot?

Isn't that a form of "shooting yourself in the foot"?

Something new for the ticker to promote view response? Or just an issue? *

It may sound dumb, but yes. Why use resources on a section that isn't being watched as much as another?

Two reasons:-
1) Do the graphs include UK viewers - which may boost the viewing figures higher for the 5PM - 7PM hours
2) It's what their research suggests the people watching at those times want from the service.

1900-2000 normally includes Jeff Randall Live. The EMS survey targets high earners. Doesn't explain 2000-2100 admitedly, but certainly helps explain 1900-2000. Also worth noting those figures are for Mon-Sun, and on weekends Sky also put effort in at 1900 with Sky News at 7 and Sportsline

It's only Summer weekdays, Fridays and Christmas/New Year when Sky News has 'basic' output 1900-2000

Brilliant coverage from Syria today, led by Jeremy Thompson in Damascus.

Sky News at its best.

Agreed.

3 of the best on Sky News all in the country: Alex Crawford, Tim Marshall & Jeremy Thompson. In a weird way, I hope something significant happens in the next few days, like a resignation of Bashar Al Assad. Only so their brilliant skills can come into use as not much has happened today.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the past couple of times I've caught Sky News HD at night, the graphics have been in the 4:3 safe area.. Is this a new thing or an error?

The straps on the Born Bankrupt documentary are animating in a very bizarre way.. The top half (red) swings down, followed by the bottom half..

Here's a (large) gif of the graphic in action:
