Because Sky News don't hold the picture rights, whereas the BBC and the BBC News Channel do and can. Sky News and BBC World News are both in the same boat of broadcasting Worldwide and not having the rights to show video from the events, so can only show 4 minute highlights and stills. Sky News and BBC WN were able to show the David Beckham boat and fireworks as they could be seen from their Olympic studios and O/B points both respectively outside the Park on Lund Point (BBC NC/Nationals/WN) and Westfield Shopping Centre (Sky News/SSN) and the sides of the Thames near Tower Bridge.
Why don't they show 4 minute highlights?
There are limitations to how many times they can be shown per 24 hours.
I'm pretty sure they haven't showed them once.
I thought they also had to wait until 12 or 24 hours after the initial broadcast?
In all the time I've watched, they haven't showed a single clip.
Why can't Sky News just use some video from the BBC? Rather than continuously using silly outside shots of the fireworks and still images of the inside.
