from 4-7 seconds the sound goes very flat and noticeably different from the normal theme. The website appears to still show the latest news like on the old TOTH, but it only appears for around one second and you can't read it.
They need to get rid of one of the segments and use it to show the website for 1-2 more seconds, showing the site is pointless if you can't read the text as it changes so quick.
2pm one fixes the blank screen at the end of the TOTH, but other problems still there.
It's just way too quick the way it is now, what is the point of showing the latest story from the website if it is impossible to read it without winding back and pausing.
Better than it was, though.
If Sky weren't so besotted with Apple, they may feature their Android app too!
Agreed, it is a much more polished animation. Apart from the overlayed 'swooping' sound effects I can't hear any difference to the tune. As for the Android app, it's identical to the iPhone app, even down to the iPhone style tab bar, so there is no point showing an Android phone alongside the iPhone.
The tune is slightly different from 4-7 seconds, they've removed some beat and dulled it down in that section. Listen to the one on TV newsroom and elsewhere and you'll notice the different.
The animations are without doubt better and much better graphics, for me it just shows too many devices in a too short a time frame and feels like it's running too fast.

The music remains exactly the same, just with new sound effects. The SFX in the original 2010 one gave the impression of a more pacey theme, but listening to the 2010 theme without effects, it's exactly the same music as the new TOTH.

Just listened to it again on high quality headphones and I'm sure the tune is the same, just that the during that section the sound effects have been added and the tune volume reduced slightly to make way for them, so it doesn't sound as rich as we don't hear the lower frequency sounds as well.
I agree about the speed of it, if they take out the iPad it would be better given that everyone with an iPad would link the mobile app with being available to them.
I'm not sure they want you actually read what it says, even though you want to. I presume it's just to show that there are three alternative ways to view Sky News. Personally I'd like to have the time to read at least the main headline in the TOTH.
They could make 2 versions 1 with an ipad and 1 with the iphone, It would give a bit of variety or they could cut down the time it takes at the end to get to the Sky News logo or how about getting rid of the Sky News logo at the start that would give a couple of extra seconds to read the website
I think reducing the time it takes to get to the logo at the end would be a good idea it seems a bit slow
I do prefer how it goes to the studio though it looks a lot better than the box just appearing and filling the screen
