Sky News: Presentation Discussion

I'm normally a fan of how Sky News Aus adds plenty of drama to the UK package, but I'm not too sure about that clip - the countdown music is just the Business theme, and the headlines bed sounds like a badly edited version of the UK News theme - it sort of cuts out just as the strings are about to build into the dramatic part of the theme.

How you can view that clip and come away with a positive impression is beyond me. I cannot think of a single good thing about News Day, which recently followed host Ashleigh Gillon when she moved across the country to Perth, on the whim of their director who has a preference for her over the numerous more experienced presenters available at their Sydney headquarters.

As for the quality of this 'revamp', it's broadcast from the corner of a local newspaper's offices with a camera that looks like a glorified web cam, and the empty space above the talent's head is due to the fact they did not allocate the necessary funds for a plasma big enough to fill a normal shot. It is a right mess that UK viewers should be thankful they never have to see.

Oh come on, this is far more varied than Skynews UK , or do you like it boring?

The ticker looks extremely outdated and is really not very slick in any way, the music is cut to make it less dramatic but it sounds weird. The business music toth does actually sound good. The "headline" box transition is im sure something you can do in powerpoint and looks really rather quickly put together.

It's a very disjointed opening, and I much prefer the UK ticker and headlines graphic. I couldn't watch a program based almost entirely in a CSO studio.

I don't understand your problem with this newsday programme! It's far more varied than the skynews uk broadcasts!

Variety is not top of everyone's wish-list for a news programme.

It's so varied that it doesn't work at all. It seems very disjointed and uses so many different versions of the Sky News music that it becomes over the top. The TOTH is dreadful too.

Ok it might be over the top but skynews is the opposite . I think you should find something in-between.

I don't understand why paula has an one hour slot from 2-5 today and yesterday a 15 minute one . Is it only because of easter?
