Does anyone also think that skynews ( hopefully) will revamp graphics and music to coincide with the start of skynews arabia
I can't wait to see this years Election Graphics, everything goes red?

Charlotte Hawkins has been using a white ipad this week instead of the usual laptop, I'm asuming its her own as the Sky News 1 is black
I've also noticed this week Charlotte having a greater role in sunrise when they were discussing the papers at 7:10, Eamonn and Charlotte took it in turns to read out what was coming up in the paper review after the break around 7:30 and she also was Intervieweing Sam Kiley who was sat next to her on the sofa in the 8am hour, Then at 8:33 they took it in turns to read out what was coming up in the next half hour
The only thing I don't like is the constant Twitter and email reminders after nearly every story, We have graphics which tell us that
I preferred the morning paper reviews with just 1 reviewer as we already have Eamonn and Charlotte giving their views, 4 people means the likes of James Whale don't really get going as they used to when it was just the 3 of them
The press previews are always a good watch and are much better with 2 people, My favourite are Anna Botting, Kevin Maguire & Andrew Pierce, Kelvin MacKenzie is also good with Anna as she never knows what he's going to say and looks worried
Another thing which has been happening over the last few weeks is a news alert ticker to tell us we can see the papers at 21:30, 22:30 and 23:30 do we really need that? Id rather be able to read the ticker stories than have that looping for 30 minutes each hour, any regular viewer would already know that anyway
advertisments for the ipad app are becoming more frequent but at least they are not into every break
Final thing its good they have finally sorted out the sound issues on SD when coming back from the break now they just need to let the advert/promo run to the end and not keep cutting off the last second or 2, Does anyone know why SD viewers had the sound problems? did they move to a new system of some sort?
New Promo for exhibition for a year of journalism and conflicts at the Somerset House. Its pretty basic, like the multi platform ad but is mainly pictures.

I just read the article on the website. I admit I'm not in any media-based career, but I still find it fascinating how the modern technologies that we take for granted can be used to bring us up to date with stories from the other side of the world, in real-time. And it has been quite some year, news-wise, to introduce many of these technological advances.

The only election is the American election. I can't imagine they'd change the entire channel's graphics just for that. They'll have a special background for the stories and a logo, but it won't be much different to previous years designs.
I don't think Sky need a full graphics revamp at all - the one they've used since the UK election has been excellent and doesn't need a complete overhaul, unlike the last package. I'm not sure why some people are really desperate for a change?

In my opinion the 2006 used graphics ( Ticker and bars ) were the best. The ticker and bars of today are too simple and everything is written in capital letters plus what annoys me is that they end in the left center of the screen ( unless you are watching in hd) . But the blue backgrounds of today are far better than the previous ones.

I'm not, I really like the current graphics. What I meant was, the changed TOTH and something new maybe.
My message to Sky is don't tinker. Everything in general is fine. I criticised their move last year to bring uniformity to programming but I think its been quite a good move. The graphics are fine - well ahead of BBC's and ITV's so there is no need for a change. I'd like to see double headed presentation but it's a luxury that shouldn't be comprimised for other important elements. Sky have very little improvements to make as everything they are doing is exemplary. Their quality of journalism is second to none, their presentation is brilliant and their content has improved in the last few years. Keep up the good work is what I say.

I really can't comprehend that! I think it is absurd that skynews shows a newswall backdrop of the top story at the ToTH for only 4 seconds instead of showing the skynews logo which looks better on the newswall and leads to an important identification with the channel. The "Live from the skynewscentre" voiceover was also important .Then they axed the proper coming up sequence. And they should let other presenters like ( Paula middlehurst and martin stanford ) present more important shifts. I also can't comprehend the decision of removing the isle, they could at least use it for sportsline with a nice newswall backdrop..

I don't think all the things you mentioned are really relevant. I was against the removal of the voiceover when it was axed but now that its gone I don't really miss it. It wasn't important and anyhow at least there is still a voiceover with the presenters names in comparison to the BBC. The glossy coming up sequence was not necessary. What they have now works fine for what they want and it works fine for me. As regards Martin Stanford, he's in Las Vegas this week for Sky reporting on a major technology conference. My understanding is he plays a big role behind the scenes in technology innovation etc. for the channel and has not been overlooked as many people have speculated. Paula Middlehurst is freelance and probably Sky's most used freelance presenter. I really like the current sportsline backdrop actually with the column backgrounds - its really nice.

Yes but the point is with a newswall background you can better imagine the story and you can show the presenter and the story behind the presenter at the same time.
Anyway it is tremendously interesting how opinions differ.

Its also something useful to show the first story of the hour. In my opinion the newswall is underused except for business news.
