Is it my TV or is the interview sound between the "No"/"Yes" supporters of the strike VERY echoey?

Anyone else agree that the Westminister Studio is too cramped resulting in unflattering camera angles?

Just seen a clip of Theresa May which I'm assuming was from today's Boulton & Co, the angle is very side on (which is probably wise with this lady in question) and the backdrop is half the gallery and half a grey wall.

I know I'm not the only one bored of the gallery backdrop, but the Westminister version appears worse since there is little depth between the studio guest and the backdrop.

The backdrop on the opposite side of the desk isn't too bad but seems the gallery side is usually favoured.

Does anyone know the technical reason as to why over the last week when they go to a break we see a 1-2 second flash of the last advert to be played before the adverts start properly and why when we come back from a break the last second of it is cut off and why we are also missing the first 1-2 seconds of audio meaning we crash into a sentence?, it looks very unprofessional

I found tonights 21:30 press preview hard to watch as Johnathan Maitland just would not shut up and let the other guest get a word in, The majority of the first half was just noise as they tried to talk over each other

During sunrise in particular they seem to never stop talking about Twitter which I'm starting to find quite irritating, Am I watching to see what x in x thinks or am I watching to see the news, Also I'm not interested in what Eamonn and Charlotte's views are on every story

On the positive side they are using the newswall more again over the last couple of weeks, Hopefully this will continue

Not sure it's been posted before, but for those who haven't seen it, I love this promo that's currently airing on Sky News.

That quality of reporting just demonstrates the real Sky News of on the edge reporting. No matter what criticisms people make Sky show in this report and others how they are the best. As Ian Woods said in one tweet, you know its quality when BBC correspondents are commenting on it.

How can they be considered "the best" if they come under lots of criticism?

I'm sure they cover some things well - but one swallow doesn't make a summer, does it?

No it certainly does not Gavin. I believe that all of the criticism Sky gets is unfounded and un-necessary. In this report they demonstrate what it is to be a superb news channel with second to none investigative journalism. And this is not the only example, we Sky since February (the last 10 months) have been the news channel leader when it comes to the arab spring with Sam Kiley, Tim Marshall, Stuart Ramsay, Alex Crawford and Jeremy Thompson among others leading the way. No only have they had this inside report, they have also been inside Syria legitimately unlike ITN or The BBC. They covered the riots really well with Mark Stones footage actually been used by Newsnight last night showing the level of rioting. So as you say one swallow doesn't make a summer but all of theses examples show how Sky are not just a "one swallow" news channel but the best.

Personally I don't think Sky has been a perfect broadcaster this year though. The current weather package is awful, with a terrible snow graphic and a glitchy newswall during Sunrise, and the current position of Martin Stanford is a waste of a quality journalist.
There have also been many occasions during this year where Sky's proven itself not to be a superb news channel - Jackson trial anyone? - and any criticism the channel gets has been constructive and mostly warranted. At times though, especially with the riots and Arab Spring, Sky has been outstanding.

With regards to Syria, Sky have been inside the country illegally over the past few days. They certainly shouldn't have been in Homs and that's why the reports are only being broadcast now Stuart Ramsay is out of the country. In fact I can only recall one occasion when they were reporting from Damascus legally, which was when Jeremy Thompson was there.

Legally or illegally, the reports from Syria are of very high quality. If they are illegal, which I admit, they probably are, they're still very much needed, even more so. We need to be informed, especially about issues like this, and therefore a risk being taken such as going into a country illegally is worth it.

I'd argue that the reports on the Middle East uprisings have been brilliant. From Egypt to Libya, Sky have used their best reporters, and also helped new journalists like Sam Kiley prove himself as a reporter on the ground.

Oh absolutely - I'm certainly not disputing whether they are excellent reports or not - they've been superb, both with the reporting and the studio presentation of the story (newswall use, Tim Marshall analysis). I was saying that Live at Five's comment that Sky were " inside Syria legitimately unlike ITN or The BBC" was incorrect.
