A rare Sunday morning watching Sky News and it didn't take long for them to annoy me. It's all "on Sky News HD, mobile, iPad and online."

FFS, Sky News SD on Freeview will have more people watching than all of the above combined. Mad Sky should be embracing the audience that's actually keeping it on air. If it could survive on pay TV only like its sister channel Sky Sports News it would have switched already.

Unfortunately lots of things concerning skynews are annoying me at the moment. I hope the channel will get one´s act together so that I can enjoy watching them again.

Just as your getting into watching something such as the Leveson inquiry they go to a break so whats the point watching it to then miss 5 minutes of it 3 or 4 times an hour, We don't all have Sky news for iPad, Interactive or want to be watching it on a computer, Before they introduced the iPad app they used to skip breaks when press conferences were going on and things now they just cut things off whenever because we all have iPad's of course Rolling Eyes

As mentioned earlier why have they suddenly decided to sometimes cut the first second or 2 of the top of the hour?, When they go to a break you often see a quick flash of the last Sky promo played out before the adverts begin and then when it comes back from the break you miss the first second or so of vision and 2 of audio meaning we crash into the middle of a sentence

Also I can't see a reason as to why they have removed the nice animation going into a break, They still have to select 2 of 3 videos to play and type what it is so it can't be to save time or anything, That was a much nicer way of going into a break than just fading to black

The presentation is getting worse by the day

That was funny at the top of the 11am hour, they forgot to play out the "This is Sky News with Dermot Murnaghan" voiceover, he was just taking a breath ready to start speaking when they played it to which Dermot smiled a bit

Thank you for saying that! I totally agree! Skynews Australia does a great presentation with lots of animations and 5 Different music themes, which are very often played. Skynews UK uses only 1 music theme which is really hard to understand and they are removing more and more animations.

Because Sky News want to be a serious news channel that competes with the BBC, they don't want glitzy animations or numerous music themes. Just like they want uniformed programmes instead of Today and Afternoon Live.

I think you should find a balance of a serious news channel and nevertheless beeing diverse. Compared to 4 years ago skynews has changed tremendously , in my opinion too much.

P.S constant audio failures like at the moment are anything but a sign of a serious news channel !

I agree, it's about finding a balance. I'm not sure the best way to tackle BBC News is to go about things in the exact same way. One of Sky News' strengths was its great presentation and they shouldn't lose sight of that. Sure, cut back on a few things if needs be, try to create some more consistently through the day, but don't make every hour feel exactly the same. At the moment Sky News has gone too far the other way and it's all become a bit staid. I'm talking purely from a presentation point-of-view here, the standard of the reporting has remained largely the same.

On the other hand, do I really need to see the presenter using an iPad to control the Paper Review? No, that's not a step forward in my view, that's just a gimmick. Would I like to see more varied shots, better use of the studio and broader themes/graphics? Absolutely.

Programmes have been coming from the westminster studio since 9am with Martin Stanford back at Sky News centre with all the figures and graphs on the autum statement at the newswall

Kay is live in the westminster newsroom stood where Boulton & Co starts, It makes a nice change to see something a bit different

Edit 14:06- she is now back in the studio

I find it irritating now, but has any one else noticed that at the beginning of every TOTH, the sound is muted for about a second. It's minor, but extremely annoying.

Yes. It's one of those things you listen out for when you know it happens.

Do you watch in HD? I was wondering if it was just the HD channel.

Sorry for the late reply, no, im only in SD as im on Virgin, and they don't do HD.

Amazed nobodys mentioned the rather swish graphics from yesterday including some rather new on screen furniture for the Autumn Statement. Looked stunning.

Sadly they use them only for special purposes that occur once or twice a year
