Was about to comment on the smooth reporting about the Dale Farm eviction, but did anyone else notice an impromptu ad break cutting into the middle of an interview with one of the activists at about midday? It may have just been my feed buffering and skipping (I'm watching Sky on my laptop), but up til now it's been good rolling coverage.
Another new graphic used tonight during the jackson trial at 21:30 where the usual graphics are displayed was the top stories which had a small picture on the left with the usual graphics in the center with a short description of what the story was, it had that same blue line they use for promoting something on the iPad, website or iPhone, it then wiped and another story appeared, Hard to explain but I will upload a picture if they do it again later tonight
That looks quite nice, reminds me of the 'Live/Next' box from the 2005 package, rarely used though.
To be honest, I really like the use of the blue line with these graphics which promote skynews.com and Sky News for iPad. Infact, I prefer them to the CNNi style straps because they look very dated now.
I'm not keen on the new graphics. Don't get me wrong that they
look
good, but I'm unsure about the concept as a whole. Doesn't anyone else agree that they detract from the rest of the screen, say, with footage from the Jackson trial: to have a caption referring to a completely different story pop up at the bottom. Maybe I'm just being pinickety, but if they just contined making full use of the ticker, this new feature shouldn't really be necessary.
but the recent graphic tweak indicates that sky news isn't planning a whole graphics refresh in the foreseeable future

On the return to the final part of the CBS news all we saw was the Sky News logo with a black screen, then after what would be the end of the programme we cut to the usual Sky News weather and then they tried to cut to a break but all we got was a black screen so we then cut back to Lisa Knights who went through the front pages of the newspapers until 3am when the TOTH started as normal
