Weekly share of 0.7% - pretty much on par with recent weeks, overall September 2011 share was 0.7%. September 2010 saw a 0.5% share.
Fair to say that this year has been a very good one in terms of ratings for Sky News (probably one of if not the best in their history?), hugely helped by it being such a busy news year but its is notable that the share has not settled back down to the 0.5% range but stayed around the 0.7% mark. The monthly viewing share has been above 0.5% every month so far this year (0.6% the lowest, 1.2% in August the highest)
With the Jackson trial taking up so much airtime, it will be interesting to see Sky's viewing figures over the last two or three weeks.

Agreed. And, even though the gaffes usually get greater prominence, Kay Burley really is very good at holding together breaking news coverage.
Glad the Jackson trial wasn't sitting today - allowed for some very good rolling coverage of Liam Fox's resignation. Joey Jones is doing a very good job as the deputy political editor.

I have to agree, Magoo. Kay Burley is very good at holding Breaking News together from the studio.

I turn mad by constantly seeing the ticker in yellow and the advice where to watch the jackson trial although it has finished for this week. This is far too overactive
That has been annoying me for the last week as I posted on the last page, It will probably be on all weekend again telling us to watch the highlights on Sky News for iPad, How about showing us some proper news on the ticker and just add a Jackson trial divider on the normal ticker and put the information there
I agree about Kay, I do like her and she does make some funny mistakes but when it comes to a breaking news event she does very well

why on earth did they stop using the website coming up seqence? Again something less at sky news that makes me sad . Now the very repetitive theme music appears even more often. No great variety as it used to be. Sky News Australia makes a great job concerning varied music sequences but why not Sky News UK?

Neal Mann, who may be more familiar to some as @fieldproducer on Twitter, has been appointed Sky's Digital News Editor. Quite a savvy appointment I think, he is one of the main providers of breaking news and analysis on Twitter.
The 'Digital News Desk' will open next month. Hopefully it will coincide with a revamp of the website - I really think it should realign to focus entirely on breaking/rolling news and blogs from some of the more insightful Sky journalists. At the moment the website isn't really the best online destination for anything but if anyone can make a purely breaking/rolling news website work, its Sky.

Brilliant coverage of Dale Farm on Sky News at the moment.
