At the top of the 11pm hour last night, there was a really loud sound of glass smashing somewhere in the newsroom (as a story about the riots was being read, appropriately enough). No idea what it was, but it sounded like more than someone just dropping a glass of water and there was a small amount of background noise after the report, sounding like it was being swept up.

I think Jayne Secker was presenting, she just about managed to keep a straight face.

Here's what happened

The Jib hit the Shoebox and smashed the AutoCue glass

Do Sky have anyone in Tripoli at the moment? I imagine it would be very frustrating for them if the story develops rapidly in the coming days/hours and not to have a reporter there for the first time in quite a while. I think Ian Woods was supposed to go to Tripoli a few weeks ago but he couldn't gain access.

I suppose having Alex Crawford and Ian Woods reporting/embedded with the rebels might make up for it somewhat.

Alex has been superb as usual.

Tripoli is still controlled by Gaddafi (for now at least), so any foreign journalists in the capital are marshalled by government officials in a hotel and their freedom of movement is restricted. Alex Crawford is advancing with the rebels for more independent reporting, I suppose.

That said, I recall Ian Woods reporting from a high vantage point somewhere very close to Tripoli earlier today, watching the movements of rebel/government forces from above. Not sure how close that was to the capital, mind.

Fox News are showing Sky News' pictures from the roof of a Washington building following the earthquake there.

I wish I'd captured the last few minutes. Shepard Smith asked to confirm it was Sky News they were watching, pointed out it was from earlier and commented something along the lines of "there is a dictatorship falling in Libya and the world has switched and they are watching us now."

The clip they are showing on Fox News is less than a minute long, and was taken briefly when Sky broke it just before 19:30. Sky News have been covering Libya since.

Sky News went to the weather but they put the wrong thing on screen. We saw Robert Nisbit waiting in Brussels instead. We also saw his Brussels background being rewound. The side by side graphics that we saw was used for the next item (as can be seen at the end of the video) and Robert Nisbit was on after that.

Maybe she didn't know. If it can go unnoticed in the gallery than I'm sure she can be forgiven for not noticing the problem too. She probably looks down and reads the weather from a bit of paper so wasn't looking at the screen anyway.

This is on screen throughout the top story being reported this evening. There is plenty of warning too from the presenter beforehand.

What just happened there? Lisa crossed back to Anna Jones after the sport and Anna just sat there looking at the camera for about a minute with quite a disgruntled face... anyone capture it. Appears Sky News were having a bit of a BBC News channel moment!

no I am sure Paula messed up ealier about 3.15pm by reading the autocue prompt. Something like 'visit our website trail?' Then cut straight to a live shot of New York and spoke about that.

Kay seems to be either sat really low today, or the camera is pointing downwards at her - the background looks different, although you can still see the bottom of the two vertical screens in the distance.

Not had the proper TOTH bits this afternoon either - just the sting where the Sky News logo flips left and right a few times.

Has there always been a promo for Sky News at 9 on Sky 1?
