Not to understand me wrong, sky news remains my favourite newschannel. As well I´m interested in what´s happening in the UK. But they could have an hourly news update, despite the riots throughout the UK. Only for 5 minutes an hour. I think then there is still enough space for reporting about the riots.

Because, frankly, 95% of people in the UK only care about one story at the moment. Changing to cover other news will immediately lose viewers. All about numbers.

Indeed, worth noting that on Tuesday Sky News had the highest daily reach audience it has
ever
recorded, with 9.28 million people watching for at least 15 minutes.

...in the UK alone. Since Sky News is carried on a number of cable systems in Continental Europe and beyond, there were probably several hundred thousand if not several million viewers more tuning in that day.

Anyone else left unimpressed by the 8pm 'Why are they Rioting' debate?
Also, the more I see use of it, the more I begin to dislike the Westminister studio - not sure what relevance it had to this programme plus the fact its so pokey, really not idea for a roundtable debate with 5 people...
Interesting line from the FT that the board of BSkyB ordered a review into editorial practices at Sky News following the phone hacking scandal last month. There was a 3 week investigation into the channels financial records to see how 'editorial money had been spent'. The report apparently found nothing of concern.
Quote:
There has been no suggestion of any impropriety at Sky News and we remain committed to the highest standards,” a spokesman for the company said.

Due to the lack of comments on here I thought it was just me that was unimpressed. I lasted about 5 mins after the report by Emma Hurd before turning over, compared to the ITV special the other night it was poor.
