Ticker's a little jumpy tonight.

Why don't you grow up and just go away, Chie.

No you.

I used to choose the music when I worked in a charity shop, didn't make me a DJ.

Knowing how to replace the cable on some community radio equipment doesn't make you a broadcasting engineer.

That is the end of the matter.

I noticed on tonight's paper review we got a shot of the iPad itself and the interface that the presenter uses to browse through and zoom the front pages, not sure if anybody got a grab of this?

The iPad does add to the newspaper review but I don't understand why the presenter has control of it. It makes the presenter seem uninvolved and uninterested in the discussion which detracts from the paper review. It would be a lot more useful if the iPad was controlled from the gallery by someone who can actually work it properly.

But the whole point is that the presenter controls it!

It often seems that the iPad is the centre of attention (with all the shots of it and the presenter using it) than the Paper review itself! I find it distracting, although it is a nice touch.

Bring back the presenters standing! Wink

After no Sky News adverts for a few weeks 3 have popped up this week for the Syria coverage, The coverage of the Royal tour & today 1 for the final space shuttle launch on the 8th July

It seems odd that they have kept the island base in the studio when it isnt used for anything and whats the point in having that giant newswall if they hardly ever use it anymore?, Some hours its seen for 5 seconds at the top of the hour and that's it

They seem to go through phases of hiding the newswall or not using it and then a few months later its back as the center of attention

I also miss Skynews.com and Technology unplugged as it was something a bit different in the schedule

Actually the newswall has been used for quite a bit recently. It was used yesterday to talk about the strikes in the evening, and has been used today by Taidhg Enright talking about the Lloyds Banking job losses.
Plus there's the Sunrise weather updates, and the business headlines.

I do agree with you about missing Skynews.com though - it was a very good show and really showed that Martin Stanford had some kind of role at Sky. Now, he doesn't really do anything at all...

I admit that the last few days they have been using it more for the strikes and a couple of other things, Its nice to see it used during sunrise for a couple of minutes an hour but they don't use it anywhere near as much as they used to do which is a shame

Does anyone know if they switch it off at all when its not in view?

I used to like Kay and others walking across the wall and trying to get to the island at the top of the hour, The longer Voice of God used to add more pace to the start of the hour too

Finally another thing which bugs me is the padding at the right hand side of the text, sometimes theres a big white block and other times there is hardly nothing, it never used to do that before this current look, Its most noticable on the white box which flies out from the side of the breaking news and often the padding changes between them showing a name and normal text strap

Overall though much prefer Sky's presentation to the BBC or ITV

Always funny how the overnight team can not get the idea of putting breaking news information on both lines of the bar it looks odd just hanging in mid air from the ticker, I'm surprised the system does not calculate the length of the text and split it in half itself so these things don't happen

That's always been a problem overnights, I've never understood why the overnight team can't use the graphics system properly. Same with the ticker.
