A skeleton crew really shows onscreen with breaking news such as Osama Bin Laden's death - slow directing, double layering text straps, miss-matched audio levels...
MONDAY: News of Osama Bin Laden’s death saw viewers flocking to news channels with Sky News almost tripling its audience.
President Barack Obama broke the news in a dramatic late night statement confirming that the man who held the title of America’s most wanted for ten years had been killed. It triggered a wave of news coverage across the day.
Sky News saw an average audience of 267,400 (4.36%) watching from 6am to 12pm in comparison to the year to date average of 93,000 for the same slot, according to overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.
The BBC News Channel saw an average audience of 262,600 (4.28%) watching from 6am to 12pm almost doubling the slot average for the year of 123,300 (2.44%).
Sky News... News? Surely they should have put "headlines" or something else instead.
Agreed. I also don't like the idea of repeating the headline bed every 30 seconds. The previous breakfiller used much better music. The graphics on the other hand are quite impressive. Although, I'm trying to work out why they added extra glass panels behind the information. Seems cluttered.
There is some funky music for each of the other segments in addition to Weather, but alas they were not persuaded to use them sadly.
Just caught Rhiannon Mills on Sky News using the large screen for News Sport Weather, not using news wall but at least were not stuck around the desk
Shame if they were using Chrome they couldn't at least have put it in full screen mode, to hide the Windows XP Start and menu bars. Makes it look quite unprofessional, really.
