Have they changed the title sequences now as well... the 'zooming down the tunnel' seems to have now changed to just a Sky News logo wobbling around like a screensaver. The channel is looking very cheap now and it's a great shame.

I don't think that was deliberate - it happens every now and then when there is a technical issue with the proper TOTH.

Well it's happened again at the 3pm TOTH, if they've ditched the main TOTH that's just plain silly.

I notice that the Island base is still there so maybe they have some plans for it. If they didn't - I'm sure the base would have been removed too.

If they're not using the video wall for anything, maybe they should turn it off and save on the electricity bill too. Confused

They could just use to studio B and rent the set to some other news channel. Laughing I would love to see CNN London in there. Very Happy

The main TOTH was back at 4pm, it had me worried for a minute - its about the only thing left that injects some pace to the channel!

Great observation. It is ridiculous that they spent all that time in STUDIO B while they were revamping sky centre and now they might aswell be in STUDIO B again. What a waste of the resources they have. Or why not just move presentation to Millbank full time if their not going to make use of their vast studio space they have in Osterley.

Are you for real?

Please tell me you're being sarcastic...

Just because a couple of presenters are not standing at the island doesn't mean they're wasting the resources that they installed at Osterley.

They're not using there newswall either. The only reason they need to be at Osterley presentation wise is for Sunrise and the Press Previews. The rest of the presentation is being conducted from the desk which could be done from the dest in Millbank is my point.

...they also need to be at Osterley to benefit from the hundreds of producers, journalists, designers, cameramen, managers, editors, online staff, radio staff, directors and supervisors who also need office space in a working newsroom.

It would be a logistical nightmare to move presentation to Millbank full-time when everything else is running in Osterley.

So you weren't being sarcastic and think you have a realistic suggestion?!

Do you also think the whole of the Sky News building has been shown on air, and when they designed the building, the position of the newswall and desk were amongst the first things decided?

If they're going to have a locked-off-camera desk position, why use Millbank? Bit extravagent, isn't it? Far more cost-effective would be to do it from Eamonn Holmes' bedroom.

Whilst we're at it, does anyone else think that Television Centre is a bit OTT? After all, we only see around 7 of their rooms on screen a day. Surely a three-bedroom semi-detached would do the job just as well?

Actually the newswall is back in use again now. And as was pointed out earlier in this thread, the base of the island hasn't been removed yet, so it could be used again.

Weekend Lunchtime has also been replaced by Sky News with Lorna Dunkley, and NSW remains until Sky News at 5.

I clearly know how much behind the scenes room they need etc. But I clearly made the point from a presentation point of view the presenters could be in Millbank. I was only making the point that the vast space which is in Osterley is not been used to its potential as they just present from the desk all day and practically that same dest is in Millbank. I now its not feasible from a logistics point of view.
