So yes understandable Sky want to consolidate and tighten their brand during daytime hours. It's what CNN and other news broadcasters around the world do. It makes sense. It also makes perfect sense to use brands that you have built up in your 22 year history. Brands like 'Live at Five' and 'Sky News Centre'...why hasn't 'News Centre' ever been used as a name for any of the channel's programming? That term has a history of, definitely, over a decade at Sky News, and yet now it has even been removed from voice-overs. Madness.

I hate that they don't say live from the skynewscentre and don't show the sky news logo on the newswall at the ToTH

Hate? I know we can be anal about presentation at the time, but the attitude you've taken, that of a stroppy child who thinks that everything will go back to the way it was if he moans a bit, is ridiculous. These changes, most unfortunately, are Sky seemingly going back to priding itself on news, and not the personalities presenting it. And it looks like we're going to have to put up with it, and that's that. Who knows, maybe Sky will ditch this idea, but it certainly won't be down to you whining about the changes.

Critique: he never insinuated that saying he hated the changes would make sky reverse to what they used to do. He simply stated strongly that he wasn't a fan of the voiceover or lack of logo which he is entitled to do.

His past few posts have been things to the effect of 'I hate that it doesn't say "Live, from the Sky News Centre' and 'I'm sad it doesn't say that at the 2am TOTH'. He's taken a whining approach to these changes, and the whole 'reverse the change' stuff was my assumption of what I thought he'd been inadvertently trying to do.

Fair Enough. Maybe if they see the criticism it has received though they may be willing to re-think the changes they have made. I seriously hope they are temporary and short term.

Given the unpredecentedly busy news agenda at the moment, with so many big issues and a continually busy schedule, I think it is best they focus on straight news bulletins instead of personalities for a while.

I miss the formats they used, but it does make sense.

I'm not fussed about the changes to be honest - a news channel should deliver news, and we can't argue that they're not doing that at the moment.

I do find it strange that, as they're supposedly strengthening their brand, they've dropped the Live from the "Sky News Centre" VO along with the Sky News logo on the news wall. And to drop the Live at Five brand which has been going for donkeys years is a strange move too.

Sky News had a monthly share of 1.0% in March - up 100% on March 2010 (0.5%).

The problem is what happens when it's a slow news day and you end up with a presenter droning on repetitively every hour. It'll just become a 30-minute NSW. And there's very little to differentiate them from BBC News now.
